roadrunner, I understand what you're stating but one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.
In 1776 I'm sure the "patriots" were considered terrorists by King George.

To the victors goes the right to write history.

I do believe we need a way of interrogation that produces more information than just asking, this looks better to me than pulling out fingernails and cutting off ears... I suspect there will always be folks who feel like we need information but disagrees with any means that might be used to get it... It's easy to pass judgement on someone when we ourselves are not saddled with the responsibility of getting the job done.

Given that logic, may I recommned you join a local SWAT team and arrive at each armed robbery and shooting incident with a sociology manual in your shoulder holster. Good luck, and best wishes with all that.

The way you win a war is to kill more of the bad guys than he kills of yours. It's called removing the will to fight and resist. Yes, there are selected individuals that you take prisoner, and then interrogate. Bad guys that surrender are captured and interrogated. Selected leaders or key personnel are singled out as high priority targets for capture.

The 50 bad guys in a building firing at you get either a drone strike, artillery strike, Abrams 120mm Heat Round, or tactical airstrike, then a boots on the gound assault to clean out the remaining folks that are resisting, and to take as prisoners those that are no longer capable of resisting or those who surrender.

He who hesitiates in combat is lost. If you kick a door and wait to see who is going to surrender, you will lose comrades or your own life.

The mission dictates the tactics. The objective dictates the mission specifics. If the objective is prisoner taking, you employ tactics accordingly. If the mission is to secure an objective, or remove a threat, the tactics are altered accordingly.

    Patton:
“No poor ******* ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making other ******** die for their country.”

“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't.”

"When you put your hand into a bunch of goo that a moment before was your best friend's face, you'll know what to do."

I guess we all have opinions about these things and I suspect it is a political thing in that it doesn't matter what the sitting president does the opposite party will try to turn it against him... Haven't paid a lot of attn in this case so don't know if his critics are from the right or left but I would suspect they are mostly from the right even though it would make more sense for the right to be backing these actions.

    Drone strikes on foreign soil......OK......

Drone strikes on American soil.......not OK......

I'd hate to come home tomorrow to find my neighbor DEAD only to find out he was a "terrorist" operative for whoever....and the GUBMENT chose to take him out with a drone strike.

YOU REALLY think this is OK.............REALLY.

Now, we're not talking drone strikes on American soil...........yet, but I think the current administration would be quite fine with authorizing it.

Didn't you go a little off the deep end Mr. Fisher, that's pretty much what I meant about it being a political thing, doesn't matter what this president does the right attempts to find a way to turn it against him... I doubt you would have even had that thought in your head with a republican president making the same decisions.

I think drones are a good idea, especailly if their target practice weapons firing ranges are in Washington D.C. Once the drone has qualified at the DC range, then it would be allowed to patrol other "civilized" areas.

Hey......picture this. Drones armed with heat seeking speeding tickets.

New traffic slogan: Newer be DUI when there maybe an armed Traffic Drone in the sky!

Now, can they be modified to do shoplifter duty in the malls?

No one has said the one thing that I think is very dangerous.

For every enemy target that a drone hits/blows up, not only are the targets killed but most of the time innocent civilians are killed too.

Do we really need drones patrolling in this nation? A nation in which every town has a police department, every state has a police, FBI, ATF, Homeland Security, National Guard and so on. Do we really need drones?

What if a drone is used on U.S soil to strike down a domestic terrorist and two innocent civilians who were too close are also severely injured or killed? How would you feel about it then?

The civilians killed by drone strikes in far away lands never get much more mention than the bottom screen scrolling ticker on the news. I think here it would be much different.

The comment about finding pot growers and what not,,,,,Just think for a second, how is it they are able to see through roofs and floors and into basements? Inferred heat sensors right? Now your in bed having fun with your ol lady and guess who is watching? Might not be great picture but whoever is watching probably won't care.
Do not be naive and think that they just see pot plants,,,,no, they see you in your garage working, your kid on the couch playing video games, etc,,,
