Bob's rig is cool....and that Van he pulls it with seems to do a very good job.

As for trucks...I'm glad someone out there can afford to go out and buy new. I'm still driving my 97 Chevy 4x4....it's got a 5.7 with about 150K on it...but still looks great. And quite honestly I have no intentions of ever driving another truck anytime soon....it will be years down the road before I drive something else. Heck....I even have rust free doors sitting in the garage from a 98 model that I will put on this truck whenever the old one's either rust or fall off.

My 95' Chevy is doing great as well. I don't see selling it....EVER! Heck, my dads old 85' chevy Scottsdale that was left to me needs some work and I would keep it if I could but it's gotta go. I think it has like 80k on it. I don't want to sell it because it was my dads but it's just sitting around in Florida collecting dust and rust.

the last four trucks I've owned, I bought off craigslist. try and find them with 60 or 70 thousand miles on them and after they turn a hundred thousand, I sell and buy another. most of the time, I can drive one a couple years and get back what I payed for it. the last one I bought, had 72,thousand and drove it a couple years, sold it with 103, thousand on it and never did a thing to the truck but drive it. sold it for 200.00 less than I payed for it. I've found a 2008 ford f-150 that I'm going to try and buy tomorrow. it also has 70,thousand miles on it. if I buy it, it will be the second Ford I ever owned. I've always liked a GMC truck. but I guess it's time for a change.

for the record, I don't give a crabs butt what year a truck is. If I just bought it, it's NEW to me.

Chub, I saw the picture of what your truck pulls. I put a copy of the picture on my trucks air cleaner so it had something to aspire to. If my van could pull like your truck does, I'd take the house along with me on fishing trips!!!!!

Well Chub, I think I may be the only person on this thread who mentioned buying new trucks, so I guess you may have been talking about me. That's okay, I didn't spend a dime of your money. My husband deserved that new truck and he earned the right to have it. He had been driving "Miss Dolly," a 27 year old Mercury Cougar that was one of the first new cars I ever bought. The old girl's tail was dragging and he had a good offer to sell it to a friend for his son's first car.

My personal vehicle is a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that I bought new. It has exactly 59,441 miles on it and still looks new. Neither of the vehicles came with a payment book and that is why I am blessed to pay cash for whatever I buy. I'm not one of those people who has to buy a new car ever 2-3 years just because I have friends who do.

I have a 2002 F 150 with the 5.4 in it. A bunch of went to Florda a few years back. Coming back home I tried to keep up with them running around 70 MPH, on a full tank I could go around 200 mile on a tank, slowed down to 65 and could get about 225 miles on a tank. I had a tin boat in tow. I am think it has a 21 gallon tank.

As far as the plug issue, I am thinking the worst one was the 2001 thru 2004. It has 8 coil packs that are not cheap to buy and you will have to replace every one, one day. Had a plug come out of mine and had to buy a new head to bet that fixed, we tried the insert but it did not hold. Ford put in a set of plugs for me and 2 coil pack for around 800 bucks. If you are looking at the 5.4 do a lot of research on the year you are looking at. Not a cheap truck to own IMO. I read somewhere where the book calls for 8 hours labor on putting plugs in, heck I cant even see where they go and have no busness with a wrench in my hands so I had to pay someone to put them in.

As far as the ride, its great, will pull any thing you put behind it. Mine is the 4 door model and has more room then many cars I have been in.

As I said before do a lot of research on the year you are looking at.

    Billy
