Will it hurt rod and reels if they stay in the rod box in cold weather? Any info would be great.

Nope not at all. Mine stay in the cold and I never have any problems.
I have had them in the house all winter but I'm planning a fishing trip this weekend. I put them in my rod box tonight. Thanks for the info guys.
The rods, if in the box may not be "straight" when you get them back out of the box, after leaving them flat, or bent in the box for the winter.
Same thing with leaning them in the corner.......bad news.

rods should be fine, mine stay there year round. Line on the other hand have weakened or dry rotted some
Good point. I actually built a rod holder on the wall years ago that hold my rods. I never leave them jacked up in the corner and I don't have a rod locker on my grizz.![]()
Something I have seen is people who leave them in their cars in a bent position. Or wind them down till the rod tip is bent. That isn't good either. Plus winding them down tight like that is hard on your drag system after leaving that way for a while.
I'd check your drag on each before using. Drag discs expand and cause more drag. I try to remember to loosen mine up every time anyway.
It sets covered outside & have never had a problem with my rods whatsoever. I'm with Embry on this one. Don't sweat it as it's no big deal. If that bothered your rods they probably wouldn't last through a few of the hard hook sets that most of us do in my opinion. However there's nothing wrong with getting them out in winter if it makes you feel better. Some do & some don't. To each their own
Would it make a difference if the rod is carbon fibre or glass fibre?
