    East Wind Fishing

I've always heard the old saying wind from the East fish bite the least, wind from the West fish bite the best. just for discussion If its a nice day and your home off work and the wind is out of the East, Would you stay home or hook the boat up and go try to catch em? I personally have never payed a whole lot of attention the wind. If its a nice day and I aint got anything important to do then I'm going fishing!!!! Just wondering what yalls thoughts were?

I go fishing when I can but I have found an East or North wind is not the best. I always watch the wind direction before I go. They seem to be tighter to cover when I have the above conditions.

I don't like an east wind but it will not stop me from fishing.

I like to fish all wind conditions this Wind from the east fish bite the least I apply when drifting for walleyes or sauger. Also trolling for lake trout up north, but for bass fishing I think that it matters less. But I do not know honestly!

I believe bass will bite wind or no wind and no matter the direction. For me, it is the speed of the wind. When it is really gusting out there it makes it very difficult to cast and feel bites or work most baits properly. But I have caught them pretty good with an east wind.

Wind from the West, fish bite the best.
Wind from the East, fish bite the least.
Wind from the North, do not go forth.
Wind from the South blows bait in their mouth.

So, I take this to mean this........

    West Wind...warmer, more stable weather
    East Wind.....cold front and rain.
    North.....Even COLDER.......and tough fishing.
South.....GREAT fishing but get off KY Lake

In reality, I plan my trips around what the weather will throw at me, and change tactics. IN CRAZY bad weather, I usually figure it out. I may not pound the fish, but if I'm driving from Louisville to KY Lake or Dale Hollow, I'm DEFINITELY going to spend the time on the water....if I can.

    Later,

    Geo
