I`m redoing a R83 Ranger and I`m telling you for as much money these things cost they could do alot better with their floors and hatches. This guy has has to replace 3 hatches already and needs the big battery cover hatch to be replaced,,the edge where the hinges attach to is broke plum off the top part,,all the lids are weak and soft,,no foam between the 2 layers...they are all very heavy too,,Man people make your lids out of alum like most boats are! I`ve had 3 older rangers and loved them but thes new ones are not worth the money at all,,Give me a heavy ole Stratos anytime!
Sounds like it was run hard and put away wet. You mean the hatches are wood? it`s a 2001 R83 sport,,,the hatches are fiberglass,,not like the older ones,,these are really chency,,but i got that hatch fixed for a while,,i fiberglass clothed that edge back on,,,its good for now but needs replaced down the road,,will break again,,,
Do you know much about the Ranger Cherokees, say a 1998 model? Are the floors wood? Lids and deck?
I want to go look at one and would like to know how well they are built, a 207 model, 17'.
Bassky
they are ALL metal! No wood at all in them
This is a known problem with Ranger lids around 2000-2005 models, they have since been redesigned and are much stronger now. I replaced a few lids on my 2001 R93 awhile back. The fiberglass lids promote condensation much less than the aluminum lids.
Onemorecast,
Any issues with floors or lids with this model boat?
Thanks,
Bassky
Hey Bass,,,i`ve been inside and out on Nitros this yrs,,they are good solid boats,,,I`d own one,,,metal lids and solid floors the ones i worked on
I just bought a 2005 Nitro 882. Only thing that is wrong cosmetically are the black rubber lid edge coverings need to be replaced on storage compartments.
Any ideas where I can pick some up? What kind of adhesive do you suggest?
Thanks
Bassky
