    New Cranking Rod

I'm looking for a new cranking rod and was hoping you all could help me out. Right now I think a 7' M would be a good choice, but having trouble deciding on a brand. Recieved numerous different replies from BPS employees, so just trying to get a feel for the best one. I am looking to spend around $80 to $130 and most likely not a BPS brand. Not a big fan of the 1 year warranty. Thanks everyone!

i know you mentioned you dont want to go with a bps brand, but i've owned a few of the crankin sticks that bps makes the 7' and 7'6 they've all worked pretty well for me and not too hurtful on the pocket (can't really compare them to the higher end rod's, but for the money theyre not too bad). I've heard a couple say they like vendetta's and veritas series from abu garcia...i just got a vendetta, haven't used it yet but feels pretty solid for the price....i know the veritas come with the micro guide eye's...price range about 79.00 for the vendetta and 99.00 for the veritas...may be able to shop around to find them cheaper....but really with the price range you've mentioned there's a whole lot of options out there...maybe best to go and check a few out, get an idea of what you want and like....then hit the internet see if you can get it cheaper then what the retailers are asking.

Is what I have. It's a 7' fiberglass rod that can be bought at a goodprice from www.tacklewarehouse.com I think mine cost $79.00 & came with a rod sleeve. Nice lightweight rod & well worth the money in my opinion.

Fisherman's Factory Outlet: Berkley Bionix Casting Rod

i'd recommend this, it's got a great action, but the reel seat is too loose. I had to wedge a dime in it to get the reel to sit on snug. I paid retail for it 6 years ago.

You will feel what the lure is doing in the water if you go with a straight graphite rod. With a glass composite rod you lose contact or feel of what the lure is doing. I use both kinds. I like the graphite for Shad Raps and Spro Little Johns and the composite for Bombers and Bandits.
