March is usually a great time to fish white grubs around downed timber and brush. The late winter\early spring sun warms the wood and draws in stray bait which also draws several species of bass and stray stripers. Shiners fished close will want to run into the brush and hang you up. Spinner baits can work well, too, but you'd want to down size to match the smallish bait. A buck tail with a small trailer works great too. You can always put a few shiners on bobbers while casting and do both..
PS You can also use 3" sassy shads. I've had great success in march with them. A 20# striper (in the past) on a crappie jig head can really get the blood pumping..![]()
