    white bass runs this spring?

planning a trip for the white bass runs this year. fished the salt river at taylorsville this past spring and caught several small fish with a keeper few and far between. anybody got any other ideas for other places to head out to? trying to get my younger brother more into fishing and thought fishing during the runs would be easy for him to catch quality fish.

    white bass

    Hi Kingfisher,
The 2 places I've read the most about on the internet are the Nolin headwaters near Broadford bridge and Herrington headwaters(Dix River) at Rankins Bottoms.I've been to both and there is access for bank fishing.
Check out this article:White Bass Run or type White bass into the search bar at the top of this page. I think it is harder to get the timing right than to find the right spot.I've heard they run when the dogwoods bloom, then I've read about people catching them in mid-March.It's been a dream of mine to be at the right place at the right time to hit the peak of the white bass run, but it hasn't happened yet.Oh well, maybe this year!!
    Good Luck,
    Kurt

There isn't a size limit on white bass so any of them big enough to eat are legal. I would try salt river where it runs into taylorsville lake to the left of van buren boat ramp. if you are bank fishing you can walk the bank along there and if you have a boat you can go up into the river just stay to the left on the way up ( the right side is really shallow)
Try it round early april after a few days of warm sun, that seems to get the shad moving in and the whites will follow. I like to use a sm shad type swim bait. Good Luck

Nolin has the best White Bass fishing is the State! But I run up river in the spring above bacon creek and if you don't know the river. I wouldn't try taking a boat up there. Its shallow with lots of big rocks and fast water! lol. There is a ramp at bacon creek. But most times I run up from Wax. Hope this helps.
