The Dam is Done
The Russell County news register reports today that the major work on Wolf Creek dam was completed Wednesday after the final piling was poured. The piling was one of 1197 pilings 275 feet deep by 3 foot wide. They report it takes 18 concrete trucks to fill one piling. In all the newly poured concrete over the five-year period almost equals that of six Empire State buildings.
In the coming 12 months the work at the dam will focus on monitoring, cleanup and aesthetics the News Register reports.
There will be a large celebratory event at Wolf Creek dam at 10 AM Friday, April 19, the public is invited.

So GLad & Thankkful It's Done
Now maybe it can finally get back to normal like it was when the fishing was good. Lot complained about it being so tough, but it wasn't nearly as bad fishing the night bite before the draw down in my opinion. We used to be pretty competitive in the tournaments running out of Burnside Island & the Striper topwater night bite was a blast in early spring. I can't wait for it to make a comeback to what it used to be.

With the new growth that is going to be under I suspect the bass and crappie should improve. Would think that that stuff decaying would add some fertility to the lake and improve the fishery as a whole.
Might be kind of "drifty" for a while though.

Here is a photo of the dam last Monday.
The only real visible work was the equipment filling in the access road they had built down near the water.

Well, curious if the fishing is picking up with the new cover underwater or if it is a complete mess?
