Green River Lake

Hey....I thought you locals only considered Green to be high once it got to the front doors of the Lowe's?????
I mean as long as you can get into Coultons.....there's still hope. You can always retreat to Walmart and see if they still have air mattresses in sporting goods.

No, no, no, we consider the lake to be high when we have to drive to Liberty to find the first riffle of the river and Robinson Creek will be way past Mannsville. That's when we get out the air mattresses and have those intimate visits with our cousins from East Kentucky.

If you can remember the May 2010 and May 2011 floods,that's when I caught fish in a soybean field,cornfield,grassy area and a parking lot. In the May 2011 flood as they were pulling water back down I had my personal best which was an estimated 7.5 pounds. Best 5 for me and my fishing buddy that day was an estimated 24 pounds...so no the water can not get too high on Green...LOL.

I agree....the best fishing days we've had the past several years have been when the water was up....At the same time in 2011 when they had the water about halfway down, we had a day with 20+ fish over 4lbs and 10 or so of those over 5lbs....Limit would have easily been over 25lbs and probably closer to 27...Only problem with it is that it happens during the spawn and with the constant water fluctuation I don't think we've had good largemouth spawns....When you see a fish on bed and 2 days later the bed is dry or 2 days later the bed is in 12ft it won't help our spawns any

The last few years. I've saw fish locked down tight & go back 2 to 3 weeks later & be no water whatsoever so you know it wiped out anything that made a decent attempt to spawn. These were Largemouth & Spots too.

I noticed they have been pulling the lake hard for the last two days. Around Wednesday or Thursday the lake was around 676.5. On Saturday 3/23 they have it listed as 674.2 and falling almost 1 ft per day. For the last week in March I "think" the target level should be close to 670. I "think" the target for summer pool (675) is May 1.

If you look at the link the main gate is set on 1.4 with an outflow of 4761 cfs for Saturday. In the next 24 hrs they predict the the main gate setting to be 1.0 which will result in less falling water...but look at the weather forecast for Sunday and Monday more rain...Green is going to be like a Yo Yo going up and down LOL.

It's been like a yo yo about every spring since they raised the winter pool level from 664' to 668'.

The water was pea soup on Saturday, especially near Emerald Aisle and Robinson Creek. I'm curious how the tournament went.

With that attitiude, what makes this my problem? Every think about just calling a marina and asking? Google Green River Lake Marina or Emerald Isle and figure it out.

In defense of the attitude; the guy posted on a prior post asking for help and got no replies. He probably should have continued the same post and asked again. His "attitude" did get him responses; though I think others maybe realized that no one had responded to the orignal post and were gracious with their reports.

I generally would ask on this site before calling the marina, just because I would rather have the perspective of some of the fishermen on this board that would really know. I might also call the marina, but maybe not if I learned what I needed on this site.

I kind of thought this site was to help one another out for things like the posters question. Let me know if I am mistaken? If I know something about a place I have been; I am happy to report it if asked. I think most of the guys on here feel the same way.

Green River Lake is one of those lakes that the fishing changes daily until the water stabilizes in the summer, then again until it stabilizes in the winter. A week old fishing report might get you close, but not on fish. I have a lot of trouble on this lake, but I do have a few trusted people on this board that has helped me immensely on this board. I have a no compete clause with them. LOL I haven't been on Green this year, but I will be going in 2 weeks for a tournament with my local club. If I get on anything (on my own, I don't give advice that others have given me, just not right to do that in my opinion), I'll let yall know. I typically stick to what I know works, then swing out and try some stuff that worked in the past, then go back and hit the tips that people give me. I'm really hoping for water around 55 degrees, if I get that, then I have a spot that should be game on, however, I'm not getting my hopes up. LOL Now for smaller lakes (Fagan, Springfield, and such) hit me up.

When Green hits 55-60 degrees it's game on just about anywhere in the lake.
