    Unhappy navionics chip

Is there a way to view my nav. chip on my home computer? I have a card reader, but it doesn't seem to work. It tells me it doesn't know what program created it, and can't open it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Trying to muck with the chip OUTSIDE of their system can render the chip useless, and they WILL NOT honor any warranties.

They have some pretty specific rules with regards to that and perceived threats against attempting to "copy" the chip.

I called their tech support and asked about making a backup and they told me they don't allow it.

    Later,

They're encrypted & if trying to copy them they can become corrupted & useless.

Little more than encryption........There is a protected OS system file that contains the serial id for the individual SD card.

If you're smart.........REALLY smart and can regenerate the checksum for that FILE, then you can effectively copy the file and make a legitimate backup.

There is a whole lot more to it than this............but this is good enough.

I'm not that smart and am not willing to destroy a 200 dollar chip to try something.
