Skeet Reese Reel Problem

I have a skeet Reese reel that has messed up. The part where the line goes through has been stripped and no longer goes side to side. Does anyone know how to repair it or where to get parts? Thanks in advance.

That part is called the worm gear. You should be able to get it direct from Wright & McGill by going to their website and going to the contact page.

The problem could also be the line guide pawl which runs along the worm gear that dsonthelake84 mentioned. If this is the case, it is a less expensive part and less work to replace.

I am not familiar with the Skeet Reese brand of reels but I do know on my Shamino reels there is a screw on the backside near the bottom of the eye where the line goes through. If that screw comes loose the eye/guide will not make contact with the worm gear. Check for a loose screw on the eye/guide...I had that happen to me one time and it was an easy fix.

Yeah it is the line pawl. The screw on it will not tighten. There is no one around here that works on them or knows where to get the part. I have looked on the web site and can't find them. Thanks for the help guys. Anyone know where I can find them?

I do a little bit of reel repair myself - basically for friends and acquaintances, so I tried to find a source for parts on the Internet. I found absolutely nothing but I have an idea for you. Try wrapping the male threads with a little bit of Teflon tape.

Wright & McGill (made by Eagle Claw) does not sell reel parts, nor does Eagle Claw. Thus, they aren't available at any aftermarket reel parts carriers, which is pretty much unheard of in today's reel market. You can call Wright & McGill at 720 941 8700 and follow the prompts to reel repair. There they will tell you how you can trade your old reel in for a 50% discount on the purchase of a new reel. Another option is to check to see if your needed part will interchange with another brand of reel (trial & error comes into play here). A few reel parts will interchange from different brands, depending on the models.
