Lures?

Trying to figure out which lures will produce the best for bass fishing the rest of this week? I got out today on the kayak and couldn't stay in one spot due to the wind. I tried using shad raps and berkley flicker shads and only produced one crappie on the orange color. Hopefully, the bite gets better once the water clears. Normally, this time of year the bass are in the pre-spawn stage and will hit any bait.

I really like a jig right now. Black/blue or green pumpkin depending on the water color. Put a craw trailer of some type in a matching color and it will produce a big bass. just work it real slow over any type of cover you can find. Other than that I like throwing a crankbait as well. Either a bandit 200 or kvd 1.5 in a Tennessee shad, sexy shad, or crawfish color also depending on water clarity. From watching the pros and reading articles a jerkbait is a go to bait for the majority of them. I personally have never had success this time of the year but will keep trying. Good Luck

thanks king i am going to try the jig and trailer tomorrow and probably a texas rigged worm. Found a few pits with clear water that i am going to give a shot. I will report once I get back

It may be March but it's till cold and the fish are still in Winter's Grip. Slow down when the water's still cold.

In a couple of weeks it will probably get much warmer. Give it some time. Last year at this time it was in the 80's.

Don't forget plastic worms.

I wouldn't fish the pits with the clearer water...stained water is your friend. it warms up quicker and bass are able to ambush prey easier in stained water.

Got back out today and decided to take king's advice by throwing out a jig and pig. I used a blue and black jig with a ragetail crawdad in the dark red/green color. My first hit ever on a jig came about 30 minutes into my trip, but i didn't set the hook hard enough. The fish felt to be a nice 4-5 pounder so I was mad at myself for missing what might be the only hit of the day. A couple casts later and 10 feet down the shoreline I got a chance at another bass. I set the hook hard on this one and got'em to the yak. Ended up being a solid 4-5 pounder. I finished the day with 2 more bass for a total of 3. I really enjoyed fishing the jig because you can feel every bit of structure you hit and you always have to be aware of little movements in your line and whether you are setting the hook on a bass or structure.
