Never. The promise of prestige, fame and fortune will outshine any commitment be it verbal or written. They get out of anything they want.... its just at times it's costs money to buy out but hey whatever floats their boat...it's a job.
In fact it's a business, I do not buy into the " it's for the kids crapp " some of these coaches spew. It's all about money and ego. I don't really believe what they say... because sports is sports nothing more than a game to me. I know it's ALOT MORE to others, especially people in the game but when you step back and look at all the corruption, special treatment, illegal activities, lies, cheats and steals you have to wonder why would anyone want a child to look at these athletes as heros....coaches included. Didnt Sir Charles say "I'm not a hero"? Again that goes for coaches too.
Many people thought Pitino was this amazing person and hung on his every word until they found out what he was really doing in his personal life. Now many don't care for him (even as a coach) because of those personal choices he made. This is another example of a sports figure being put on a pedestal so high that he had to fall. Look at his record of leaving places, cheating on his wife and other stuff. He is just an egotistical man in an industry made for guys like him. With that being said does anyone think that if he wanted to coach somewhere else besides UL he wouldn't leave?? Heck if the offer was good enough he would bolt. I really wonder what will happen if be wins this years National Title. What's left to prove??? Maybe going to another school and taking them to some final fours? Championships?? Sounds like a perfect chance for him to set more records.
Before any haters start....I picked Pitino because he was good example but there are many. I like him as a coach but don't give a rats butt about him or his personal choices.
