Wow, what an awesome trip. Met my dad for 2 1/2 days of fishing Wednesday to Friday morning on the big G. Thanks to some of you guys on this board for recommending Jake Davis as a guide. He was GREAT. We fished with him on Thursday and our best 5 was about 30 pounds. We caught over 30 fish total with the biggest 7lbs, 10 of the fish were 6 lbs+. The smallest fish we caught was 3lbs. The water was 52 degrees and the fish were in 1-2 feet of water. These were the biggest fish my dad has ever caught, he is 73. He was like a kid at Christmas. Sounds like a great time! My buddy and I went down for the week (March 30 - April 6) fun fishing. We had a great day on Big G Thursday as well. It was cold on us and the fish but we found the big females grouped up in 7-8 feet of water on grass edges and stumps. It was the best day of fishing for big fish I have ever experienced with my best 5 29 pounds on a texas rig and shakey head. Every bite we had was over 4 pounds with a 5-10 and my new PB 10-02 (pic and release). Now I need to find a good replica taxidermist. The amount of big fish coming out of Guntersville this late winter and spring is just amazing!
