Have you tried catching shad with a Sabiki rig? I've told you about this system in the past.
A buddy of mine has been catching skips using plastic white grubs.
Do you know where the "stink hole" up river from the Salt on the Ky side of the Ohio is?
Just go up any creek off the river right now with a dip net and you can dip out thousands. They are swimming around everywhere
Bob, I've got the charts too but can't help you on that aspect.
The "stink hole" is where a culvert from MSD drains into the river. There's a big wide concrete culvert that looks almost like a boat ramp looking at it from the river view. Also there are some big river concrete pilings there.
The hole is on the KY bank of the river.
About 2 miles or so downstream from the New Albany ramp.
Does that help?
There is also a "little falls" on the Indiana side just up river from the Gallager Power plant. It's a drainage or creek that runs in there and I've had luck catching bait there.
Is there any place to net shad on the bank because don't have a boat yet. Thanks
I'll tell ya where I've caught some form the bank. I walk down to the end of a boat ramp and cast the net so it lands in the water on the ramp. I do that to keep from loosing or tearing up my net. Sometimes they are there, sometimes not. New Albany Ramp, 2 ramps at George Rogers Clark Ramp Area Clarksville.
But I'm no expert at it, maybe riverrat, or onemorecast or tyme can add more informed thoughts. They are my heros! :-)
