You've got my attention. I'm thinking about buying this product and trying it out next time I hit the lake. I'm a sucker for any "miracle fish attractant" product.

(No, I never bought the "Banjo Minnow" or "Helicopter lure")

I've caught more 5 lbs bass on the banjo minnow than all others combined. Still use them too

favorite is black/chartreuse in just about any form from plastic to handtied hair or marabou.

Don't even think of going without nibbles.

Weight depends on depth needed to fish. Right now 1/32 or 1/16th.

I picked up two jars of nibbles today. I'll give my honest report on their effectiveness after I use them.

Those two jars cost me over $77.00 !! I made the stupid mistake of asking my wife if she wanted to go to the big box store with me.

My enter key is not working for some reason. Edited: I had the my general settings changed to WYSIWYG instead of standard setting. I changed it back to standard and now my Enter Key is working again like it did in the past. I normally try to post my text above the quoted text that I am responding to instead of below it like this time. But I could not do that when I started this post as the enter key would not let me move the quoted text down a row where I could start my text above it. I got that fixed now. So the next time I'll post above the quoted text that I'm replying to.

But what did she buy that cost so much. Crappie nibbles cost about 4 or 5 bucks a jar.

We bought various a sundry items. Vacuum cleaning bags, jeans for me,assorted yard stuff. The typical junk one picks up when they are just out "shopping". Also bought a bathtub no slip mat so I won't fall on my butt again!!

The nibbles were only $3.66 a jar. Bought one jar of white and one of chartreuse.

Plans are to fish on Tuesday so I'll let y'all know the results.

Cool. I about had another heart attack when I thought you were saying that you spent 70 bucks on the crappie nibbles. But then I read your post again and figured out what you were saying. LOL

I went fishing today for a couple of hours and learned a good lesson. Always change the line on your reel before fishing for the first time of the year.

I lost four spinners due to the line breaking as I was casting them. I saw the lure sail off about 100 yards and splash into the lake after it broke free of my line.

I was using 2 lb test and it's not that strong in the first place. But it was at least two years old.

I did manage to catch a crappie on my first and second casts and then lost the first lure. By the time I retied on a new lure I had drifted about 300 yards off my spot. I trolled back to the spot and caught a couple more fish and lost one good big crappie before I lost another lure. As I caught the last fish I turned on the live well pump and that made enough noise to scare the fish out of the shallow water flats I was fishing. I released four 9" crappie at the end of the day. I did have fun though. Never got to use my minnows that I bought last week. I'll use them on Tuesday when I go again.

How does the fire line cast on an ultra light outfit. Pleuger Reel and ST Croix rod 5' UL ?

What size fire line do you use on an ultra light that compares to the casting ability of 2 lb test stren regular fishing line (monofilament). The 2 lb stren can flight a light weight 1/16oz jig a mile without a lot of line twist.

I can't find any new 2lb stren to replace the old stuff right now. The Boonville Walmart use to carry it but I guess they stopped carrying it these days.

I found some 2 pound Stren online at this address: Stren Original Fishing Line, 330 yd Filler Spool: Fishing & Marine : Walmart.com

Don't know if the local Walmarts carry it or not.

I do have some fireline that's rated at ten pound test and has the line diameter equivalent to 4 lb test mono.

I bought it for my line counter reel which I used to control the depth of my crank baits. If you know that line, the amount of line out, the boat speed and the type of crank bait you can develop a depth vs amount of line out curve that will predict how deep the crank bait will go. I've used this effectively to catch summer bass that were suspended out over the deeper water. And I also used this method this April 2013 to catch six very nice crappie that were suspended out from a drop off and shallow water feeding shelf with lots of weeds. The crappie were about 200 ft out over the 24 ft deep water. They suspended right above the bottom in huge schools which I saw on my Humminbird 898 C SI unit's screen.
