Hold whatever opinion you want about whether or not we should have invaded Iraq, but what is not in question is the fact that we were misled in the buildup to war.
Except the ENTIRE WORLD believed it......and the ENTIRE WORLD was involved with the intelligence......

AND THE ENTIRE WORLD thought the invasion was necessary.

GAWD how we love to change the narrative to fit what certain factions would like to see.

    It has been 10 years..........in 20 or 30 or 40 years.........History will view this mess completely differently......COMPLETELY.

It is amazing that in 1939 Stalin and Hitler were viewed as the greatest thing since apple pie......We sure know DIFFERENTLY now, don't we.

You're right, DJD, it does seem like a waste of keystrokes sometimes, pointing out what I see as ignorance and hate-mongering on this board. But I do it anyway, because you guys need a gadfly, a change from the usual back-slapping you get from most everybody else on here. I sometimes get the impression that y'all think this forum represents a cross section of America in general, when in fact it is more like a cross section of conservative rural republicans, which of course is just fine, nothing wrong with that, but whether you choose to believe it or not, the beliefs of the majority of Americans these days line up more with mine than with yours.

No, I'm not going to PM you, because the posts I'm responding to weren't PM's. And no, I don't "want a piece of you." Sounds to me like it's YOU that needs to click the Ignore button, if my comments bother you that much.

No worries here man. I said it before and like in my recent post...I read your opinions to get another view other than mine because they are intelligent and thought provoking, I may not agree with them but they usually give me pause and reflection. I just never felt the need to single you out based on your opinions and as you can tell I don't take to it being done to me. I'm good and will move on from this to another topic. Good day.

RoadToad, i usually stay out of these discussions, but when you say the majority of Americans think like you. i call BS. Not the hard working people trying to make a living. You must be talking about all the free loaders who want it handed to them and believe all of lies and drink the koolaide

I didn't mean to presume to say that "a majority of Americans think like I do." That's pretty arrogant. But there was a time when conservatives could claim to hold a "silent majority," and those days are over. American demographics are changing, and the conservative Republican viewpoint, while it does dominate this forum, is now in the minority, or if not it soon will be (I think it already is, but I guess I can hardly claim to be neutral, can I?).

Wouldn't it be kind of entertaining to see what government programs the so called conservatives who spout stuff like "drink the cool aid" actually take advantage of, I live in an agricultural area and I hear this stuff on certain days, other days they are chatting about government crop insurance, other days they are building fence and saying how much Uncle Sam is helping them out because of some kind of disaster relief, a minute later someone walks by whom everybody believes might be one of these "cool aid drinkers" and the conversation changes to how those people are ruining the country.

Actually, the "narrative" I described has not been changed one iota. It's the truth. As confirmed by that totally biased source, the Senate Intelligence Committee, Bob Woodward's book, interviews with the major players, and countless other sources.

Regardless of the eventual outcome in Iraq and the Middle East, that outcome cannot change the fact that the U.S. people were duped into supporting the invasion.

(and who exactly thought Hitler and Stalin were awesome in 1939...???)

Time did indeed name Hitler their "Man of the Year" in 1938. As they did for Stalin a year later and for Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979. That's because the award is given to the person who, "for better or for worse, ...has done the most to influence the events of the year."

The accompanying article on Hitler called him "ruthless," took him to task for re-arming Germany "to the teeth" and for "stealing Austria before a horrified and apparently impotent world."

I think from now on I'm just going to assume I'm being trolled.

    * Weapons used in Syria on CIVILIANS........were produced in IRAQ. Hard to find that on the web, I wonder why. Reuters reported it, but you will never find it.

Geo, I may be wrong but didnt Reagan give those weapons to Iraq to beat back Iran?
