Never fished the lake. Going down in a couple weeks. Anybody have advice on where to get started?

Go to smalljaw.com and read up on the latest. These guys are major in the know down there. It has been VERY tough for most down there this year but some decent to good reports are starting to come in...
Dale is having a bit of a down turn right now, fish kills last year, huge algae blooms and water qulaity issues ect...

Good luck and check that site, those guys fish that lake everyday....

I also heard theyre having a major shad kill right now. They said shad are dieing by the thousands

I moved our houseboat last weekend and there were hundreds of shad dead under the boat. I see them back in mitchell all the time, but that is the first I have heard of a "major" shad kill. I think that is a good thing! Less competition!

It has definitely been tough. Been the last three weekends, not fishing hard, but have had very little success. The guides I have talked to also express having very tough days. It has been a very weird winter and tough early spring fishing to say the least. Hopefully this weekend will be better!
