I have not seen the video that they say shows him placing the bomb at the scene. I suspect that's not being show for a reason. But I see what you are saying. All we really know is what the news media is telling us!

I've seen pictures of the two guys in the crowd walking around with a back pack on their backs. Both of them with backpacks. And then I've seen another picture of suspect #2 the younger 19 yo without a back pack. That is the only proof that I've seen so far.

They Watertown Police Chief said in an interview with MSNBC that the younger brother drove over his older brother in the street and dragged him for a ways. At the time the Chief said that three of his police officers had the older brother face down in the street and were trying to handcuff him when the younger brother drove at them in the hijacked car (SUV) and tried to run over the police officers. The cheif said that the three officers dove out of the way and that the car hit the older brother and ran over him dragging him for yards. I would like to see the autopsy report on the older brother or suspect #1 to see if he died from being run over or from bullets wounds. The also said that before suspect #1 was run over that he got out of the vehicle and walked towards the police and was firing at the police with his weapon until he ran out of bullets. That's when he was tackled by the police and was laying face down in the street. I just heard this today. Saturday. All this is from the interview with the water town police chief on MSNBC today.

The younger brother was hit in this initial fire fight with the watertown police and then drove off and bailed out of the vehicle and ran on foot and then hid in the boat that night and all day until he was discovered by the owner of the boat.

But you are right. All this is based on statements by the police and news media. Note: that the police kept the news media at a distance during most of these events. So we are basically hearing the police side of the story.

Now I understand its just a statement but I wondered what do they actually have on the remaining suspect?? I'm asking because I do not know not because I'm questioning evidence. I did see video clips of the suspect at the scene and clips of his family saying they are losers and heard they confessed to someone??? Just don't know the facts or supposed facts yet thought one of you may have been on this like a dog on a bone...I'll try and catch up tonight on what they have.

Lets remember that some information has to stay concealed from the public to try preserve the suspects rights and to avoid or reduce the possibility of mis-trials when court actions begin. If all the details were put out on mass media, it would be very difficult for the prosecution to try to select jury members who have not been prejudiced by exposure to that information. I want the guy to get a fair trial, I want our system to work, and from my point of veiw, I'm more than willing to set my selfish desire to know aside until that can happen.

I agree, we all feel we have the right to know, but that must always be balanced against the need for the greater good.

It will definitely be interesting to see how the administration plays this.......especially with the mess with regards to bringing terrorists here under maranda and trying them in the states.

Also, this just in..........the helicopter was equipped with FLIR and they picked him up on a heat signature.

    Personally.........Let the water games begin.......

One way or the other, not best of both worlds

I don't like the way this is being handled, invoking the "public safety exception" to not read him his Miranda rights, but not calling him an enemy combatant. I'm concerned that this approach may come back to bite them. I don't have any problem if they continue to question him, with or without a lawyer present; I just don't want to see Obama blow this one, and it seems to me he's trying to straddle the fence. I guess the worst that could happen is the suspect will say something that will get thrown out of court, and they already have enough to fry him on the federal terrorism charges.

    Slippery slope......VERY Slippery.

No matter what the administration does they are screwed because the are PUSHING for bringing these evil ******** here for trial.

I didn't think an official position had been taken on domestic AMERICAN citizens in this country being tried for terrorism.

McVeigh was not....so I wonder why the difference here.

Like I said this is all new ground, and it will be interesting how this plays out..........I think he should be read his Miranda rights, because he is a United States Citizen, and under our constitution, he is AFFORDED that right.....that is clear.

The Constitution does not distinguish between citizens and non-citizens when it comes to Miranda rights.

You are right, but my point was more along citizen and non citizen terrorists. I think an enemy combatant that is a citizen is on a different level than an enemy combatant that is not a citizen.

Maybe not. Those are some of the issues that will certainly be in the courts in the very near future.

As an after action report, and from my experience.....no, not from what I know now to be true.

I of course would have had a different view as a pre-ops brief.
