I just read an article about all the trash left behind at the Great Lawn and other sites. It's supposed to be a feel good story on how schools and organizations earn money by picking up all the trash.

I find the story to be depressing. Since when does a person bring items to a park and then just leave all the refuse behind. If you pack it in you can sure as heck pack it out.

Maybe the police officers that are posted at these venues can issue citations for littering and increase the government coffers instead of the government paying out money.

Oh, that's right. We have no personal responsibility anymore. Some one else will pick up my garbage and clean up after me. It makes me sick.
