Fished fishing creek from needle point to about 2 miles towards lees ford last night. OMG I am going to take a chainsaw with me this weekend. There is so much wood on the water that if you try to run on plane, well all I will say is "god bless you". We fished from 10pm till 2am and heard little to no activity, did see an occasional shad flip in front of the boat as we were idling along, but while we were casting the bank we would hear nothing on the banks. Did see some gar swimming by the boat in one spot and heard some activity on the top out in the middle of the creek, but nothing at the bank. Oh yeah there is plenty of water now, first time in many years I actually got bait hung in some trees last night. Water temp on my new Lowrance Elite 5DI was telling me 67-69.

Fished Monday night from 8 PM - Midnight Eastern mid ck..............nothing!

Tuesday night fished midnight - 4 AM....caught 1 24", 2 hookups, and a couple other bites. Edit...bombers & broke back bomber. Probably only heard 10 blowups all night. Plenty of shad in the water (you could see them), but not too many working the banks.

    Water temp between 63 - 65.

Most of the water looked good, but near the Wolfe Ck Marina there was plenty of debris and junk on the water.

Launched at the dam 11pm Weds night. Water 66 at the ramp, 64 further down the lake. Shad working but didn't hear first striper until 1:15. Boated a 26 incher at 1:30 on topwater. Heard 3-4 fish after that. Left at 4.

Thanks for the report. I was wondering if I should have been on the main lake. Sounds the same no matter where you are.................for now.

    Thanks.

I'm always a little early, a little late, a little too far up the creek, or just not far enough. Glad you got into them.

Caught one a half hour after sunrise this am. On the rock wall across from lowgap. Outside weightless planner so not really that near the wall. Marked a bunch of something after that but they weren't moving or biting. Maybe gar. Who knows. So went up greasy in search. Nothing else.

Coming out of greasy about noon it was pretty clear of debris. Wind blew it out. There is a lot of that long grass from the bank floating in areas.

    Windy Night

It was rough with the wind. Caught 2 short ones and had a couple of nice blow ups but no keepers. We are hear one more night. Any help on fishing for Stripers in the rain would be greatly appreciated.

Lower end, water temps 63-65. One short striper at dark on a bucktail and one fat walleye on a Bomber about 2:30am. Shad working, but not overly plentiful and maybe a 8-10 stripers heard all night. Wind shifted nearly every bank we tried to fish. I waited seven years for this???!!!

Saturday, 4 May, left J-Town not until 11 am, scouted around some. Lilly Creek first 2 bends looked like a log yard surplus sale. Decide on Caney. Started pulling boards around noon, and pulled Caney all day long with shiners, boards, with baits free line level to 40 foot. 1 Catfish and one short Striper after pulling boards to 8 pm. Work banks for a couple hours that night with little shad activity noted and few Striper pops to zero in on. Same on walls outside J-town that were crazy hot last night but were now quiet.

    Creek junk report:
    1. Wolfe is clear save a little bit of junk at the mouth and just a bit up around Cave Springs Marina.
    2. Lilly is junked up
    3. Caney is 90-95% clean water to work, little drift.
    4. Greasey Pumpkin and Cliffy were nearly drift junk log free.

All that said, with rain we got Saturday, and all day Sunday, and shifting winds, all that can change in a few minutes. So be careful, there is some real big crap floating out there, and some of it is just about 90% sunk by now. The twig you see at the surface maybe attached to a partially sunk redwood tree.

Bald Eagles still very visible on farside across from Campers Point.

Special thanks to Allegator 2 folks that found us a bottle of propane for the boat heater Saturday night, and made fresh coffee. This dock still ranks as one of the best customer oriented and helpful staffs on the lake. By contrast Cave Springs as 8 pm had no store open, and had noting to sell as they facility weas open only to slip owners who attended their Derby party.
Bait: Jamestown and State Dock have shiners, belive it or not, Alligator 2 does not.
Jamestown Marina Restaurante is open Fri-Sundays now.
