    Cabela's Louisville 27 April.

Went to see the store to day, and got there around 3 pm. They were pretty busy but found parking within 100 feet of the front door. I just was not impressed. Just not all that great a selection, and their tiny fish tank paled compared to Basspro's. Staff was polite and all, but really had a hard time getting some straight answers sometimes, especially back in the boat section. I saw a Ranger 18 foot fiberglass boat with a 150 Merc on it that costed more than my 22 ft hardtop Raider did, even with the delivery from Washington State figured in.

Most of the marine supplies I saw like ropes, and anchors, searchlights were just very high priced, and not of exceptional quality that would have justififed that. No marine stereo set up so you could see what they do, like at Basspro. Clothing selection was less than I expected compare to other Cabela's I've been in and Basspro.
Fishing gear section just didn't turn me on and quite frankly was not better, or slightly less selection that ****'s on Shelbyville Road, and both of them get eaten alive by Basspro in Indiana or Nashville.

So we took a break and hit their little Waterside Snack Bar for a hot dog and a brat sandwich. We waited 20 munites to get the sandwiches that were served on cold damp buns.

Nice clean store and lots of cool wildlife stuff and set up in little scenarios, but overall, not impressed at all with this store and probably won't bother with it much in the future.

Your trip was still better than mowing the grass.

    I was also not impressed

I really thought they were catering to the "east" enders too much. Not very much cabelas branded stuff. Specifically their rain gear. They had 400 dollar gear, but nothing cabelas branded any cheaper.

And with fishing reels, they had exactly 2 cabelas branded reels....the rest were shimano and lews.

NO THANKS. I want the Cabelas branded stuff.......Too bad, because I probably will not make a special trip over there again.

    Later,

    geo

Do they have $85.00 flannel shirts?

How does an $85.00 flannel shirt keep me warmer than a $15.00 flannel shirt?

I think It works because you stay inside so you don't mess it up going fishing, choppin wood, yard chores and such!!! $15 shirt can be torn, mudd--eed, blood-eed and fish--eed.
on a serious note.....I'm into cheap stuff that works. Name brand when necessary but not crazy prices.

My wife and I went yesterday. Got some wading boots and some hiking boots. Not impressed with the size or selection at all. Not going to drive past BassProShops in Clarksville to get to this store.

Eye candy galore though if you're into that - lots of "well maintained higher mileage" models.......

Was NOT impressed with this store AT ALL....
Entirely too expensive and selection was not all that. Store was cramped with narrow shopping lanes.

Did I mention...............Stupid expensive. Like Rob said....an 85 dollar flannel shirt.....No thanks, I will probably never go back unless it is something very specific in the fishing department that I need. BPS smokes this store, it's not even close.

I hate to hear it, but thanks for the heads up....I was going to make the drive over there to check it out, but sounds like it ain't worth the gas. I've ordered out of the Cabelas mag for years, but usually it's clothes and boots...for gear, I agree that BPS smokes em...but I do try to buy from my local guy as much as possible anyway.

Your local guy has everything you'd need save the trip for a rainy day when you really need something to do and can't think of anything.

I'm curious if anyone has compared the prices at the Cabela's store to Cabela's online. It sounds like the new store has raised the prices to pay for the store.

The reason I mentioned that is because I visited a new Petco store, last week, to pick up a travel crate for my dogs. I found one for medium size dogs and it was $186. I walked out and went to Walmart and got the very same crate for $89. Lesson learned, lol.

Yeah. Thanks for the heads up. I was going to go there in hopes of being blown away.

I've been getting a lot of fishing gear and many other things by searching Amazon. Thirty day return policy.
