We finally found some mushrooms on our property. It's been a few years since we found this many.

That must be a good thing!?!? I know folks love to eat them...I have yet to try one. How do you fix them and what do they taste like again??? Is it a meaty taste? Mushroom taste?? Seriously I never tried them so I apologize for asking....

Don, here is how they are described by Bobby Headrick when I last found some mushrooms.

    Re: Some morel mushrooms

Don they taste like chicken. lol lol lol. Really it is hard to desribe, they can be somwhat firm, depends on their age, but they taste like mushrooms, they are so goo dthey are indescribeible, rol them in a little flour and corn meal add a dash of saly and pepper to taste. They are just plum good. I havent had any in a long time, used to be an old poplar grove next to my grandfathers farm and we loaded up on them in the spring, wish there was a way to grow them comerically but I have not heard of any way yet, one of natures many edible wonders. END OF QUOTE

After cutting the mushrooms in half and soaking in water to remove dirt and any insects, we roll them in flour seasoned with salt and pepper and deep fry them. Others may just saute them in butter but I prefer them fried.

I think you could deep fry ear wax and boogers and they'd probably taste good.

Here's a picture of them all fried up.
