    Fishing in the rain

The heck with a 50% chance of rain. How about 100%. The showers came and quit about 7 times. One event also had some driving rain which really made the rain drops sting. We all had rain jackets only on so our bottoms got a little wet. Make that a lot wet. We were indeed the Soggy Bottom Boys (and girl) out there today.

The rain didn't scare me but I saw a sight on the river today that was the most frightening thing I've seen in a long time. It was riverrat12 and mhall motoring pass our boat. I attempted a little voodoo repellent dance for them to scare off their bad joojoo.

This 7lb 14oz blue was our biggest catch of the day.

First fish caught was a flathead and then 5 blues for me. Knute (The Heathen) caught zero as did Mrs.Tyme. I tried to show them what I was doing but they were both too stubborn to listen to me. I can't help it if I'm a better fisherman than teacher.

I did discover a ding in my prop when we recovered the boat. Time for me to visit Tucker's Landing for some repair work.

I forgot to mention one fact. Mrs.Tyme was the "Net Girl" on the 7lb 14oz fish. I think that's the first time she ever netted a fish. A little instruction and a lot of cussing on my part, but she did just fine. O.K.,y'all know I didn't cuss at her. I did have to exclaim loudly though, "Get the net in the water. This fish ain't jumping up into it!!"

Knute (The Heathen) was at the stern of the boat also giving her instructions. Maybe the "stereo" affect she received slowed the learning process.

I'm still proud of her and the extremes she's going through this year when she goes fishing with me. This was the first time she ever went fishing knowing she was going to get rained on. She took the rain like a trooper.

Tyme I wish I had that little voodoo dance on my camera, I'm sure there would be plenty of members on here that would have loved to seen it LOL. And I'll tell you what you got a keeper in Mrs. Tyme. I was tellin Mark after about the second or third Rain storm she's prolly burnin your ears off but she took it well.....Alot better than mine would have for sure. And by the way you might alt to stay away from the perch area while doing that dance.....you might get some unwanted attention LOL. That fact did come into my mind right before I "performed" for you. I did notice a couple of the bank guys giving my boat a longing look. Maybe they were perplexed to see a woman out on the river?

I fished there yesterday and got rained on to, had to use the old rain suit. fished from about 1:30 to 9:30 never got a single bit from the cats, was using good live shad caught from the spot Doug showed me. but I did have a 8.4 pound striper to swallow a shad with a #8 circle hook, his last fight in the current was a good one. Tyme, you've been tearing them cats up. way to go.

waterdod101, I've had a great spring/early summer on the river. What I can't understand is why I'm catching and the others in the boat are just fishing.

On Friday I even swapped rods with Mrs.Tyme in case there was a slight difference in presentation due to weight/leader length, etc but I'd catch them on "her"rod and then switch back to my rod. The fishing Gods have been kind to me this year.

I'm leaving to Minnesota this Saturday so we'll see if my luck (skill?) changes.

That dance was nice Tyme very nice....

The river was SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW to say the least. I don't get it, good bait, good current, good conditions other than the Monsoons.....they just weren't biting.

Always good to fish with the Chuckster though....We talk about food alot, lol....

I trust your forecasts 100%. Quit your day job and become a weather man. Uh, I guess that would be a radio weather man because your big head won't fit into a TV camera lens.
