Bought a 89 Tracker V17 with a 70 on it,,,it had been sitting fior 2 yrs.. I looked everything over,,took a battery and fresh gas with me to start the motor...the guy i was getting it from it was his dads and he didn`t know that much about it,,, We put the muffs on it,,,i knew i should have done it but watched the guy hook the wires backwards and knew he probley blew the recdifer,,,but hookied it right and primed the motor and it turned over about 4 times and fired up and idled like a new one....so,,i ended up buying it and got everything in order,,,emptied the 2 tanks of old gas,,,changed lower unit oil..checked compression,,,alittle worried,, 1 was 110 2 was 95 3 was 110....the fuel pump had a crack in it so i removed all of it and replaced with a electric pump....i know everybody just hush! took it to Taylorsville,,fired right up and idled out and hammered down,,,,bam fell on its face! died and like to have not made it back to trailer...had to crank it up on trailer,,,dam near gave me a heart attack. Came home took carbs off and cleaned ran wires thru all holes and channels,,,replaced them back and started to sync everything,,,everything was fine took to river and got out there and hammered down,,,,ran great till i got to 3/4 throttle and it fell on its face and dead... runs great at 3/4 but to open the butterflys on up it lays down...for some reason the timeing doe want to pick up,,,,
I have asked 3 different motor people and nobody will even look at it,,,tells me too old,,,,hell it`s like a old 283 chevy nothing fancy on it! You know shop time is shop time,,are they just getting lazy and have forgot what they learned to start with or do they have to have them fancy machines to tell them there jobs,,,guess they are all rich now i guess,,,just need somebody to look check out things either fix or tell me whats wrong or tell me where to start.....man all i need is 1 hour of their time...its just something little
