    2002 175 ficht troubleshooting

    just aquired a 1990 stratos with a 2002 175 FICHT motor. good deal motor not running compression issue.

    Compression check 90-90-85-30-90-90
    put oil in #4 cylinder walls and compression 120

    I think this rules out a hole in the piston.

    So I believe it is a Head gasket or a broken compression ring.

    Before I pull the head are there any other things to look for ?

    nothing else to look for there except pull the head. sounds like youll find not so good stuff inside

    A little reasearch. Shows that there is an oil dstribution pump or solinoid that ditributes the oil into the six lines that feed each of the six cylinders. Each line has a check valve to keep Gas froM coming up thru the oil line. These ccheck valves if clogged/stuck wwill starve oil from a cylinder. Will be pulling head and checking oil lne shortly

    Does any one know if its possible to change a piston and rod. WITHOUT pulling the motor? Kinda of looks like once I pull the front off the rod bolts are well exposed.

    really wont work like that...and your cylinder will need some kind of work anyway most likely

    Yea you can pull the piston out by taking the intake off, but you can't really do anything. You can make a better decision possibly by looking at the ports and such before you take the powerhead off, but to fix the issue it all has to come apart.

    After removin the air box. Foumd some pieces of broken block. Sooooo this is. A parts motor. Will begi disassembly of Powerhead for parts market. If anybody needs anything for an evinrude checl brp,co Fof your p/n probably got it as many parts are interchangeable betweent the 3,4, and 6 cylinder motors
