I was thinking about fishing at night by the launch ramp and setting up some propane lanterns. I've done this once or twice around midmight but not very often. I never thought about the light having an affect on a boat coming back to the ramp at night.
I normally will dim my headlights when driving around by the launch ramp to avoid shining a bright light into people's eyes while they are launching or recovering a boat after sunset.
I know that some types of lanterns have shields that help focus the light in one direction. Those type of lights might be turned so as not to focus out into the boaters eyes. Good point and glad you brought this subject up for discussion.
