Has anyone been on rough river lake recently? I have a father/ son tournament this weekend there and I have not been on the lake since early march. Any help will be appreciated!
Memorial weekend flukes in the grass were the way to go.
Fishing the lake towards south fork? And single fluke or donkey rig? Thanks again for the help!
Mine were mainly around laurel branch on a single fluke. These fish were in big coves. Some of the fish I caught were still full of eggs but I'm sure that's changed now. I caught one bass pushing 3 lbs right around Indian valley in south fork and lost something big. (I think it was a gar though) pearl white was the color for me.
Thanks for the help! I will let you know how I do.
Not a problem I wish I could've been more help but I didn't really get the chance to fish this past weekend there. Good luck to you and your boy hope you wack em'. My most memorable tournament was on rough river with my dad.
I am the kid haha I just want to put my dad and I on some fish. Rough isn't a lake I get to hit much.
Ah ok lol. It's a feast or famine lake it usually ***** later in the year but you guys should be fine right now. The water temp is just now getting in the mid 70's.
I was there yesterday, Monday 6/3, and had a good day. We had more keepers than short fish. We ran the lake and fished mainly the mouths an secondary points of pockets that had the dying brush type weeds and fished them with soft plastics. Were also able to get a few on spinnerbaits in the morning. Had no luck with a topwater bite. Water was pretty clear. Fished from the State Park to Walter Creek and back.
Thanks guys for the help! Hopefully i can catch a limit down there this weekend.
May head down Friday and if so ill toss you a report.
Thanks Ronzo! With your help last time I placed 3rd! Best I have ever done there. Do you think that one spot you told me about would have fish on it this time of year?
