    Flouricarbon breakoffs?

Anybody have trouble with hooksets breaking flouricarbon down on the ledges? Not at the knot just flat out breaking the line from the hook set?

The big question is what kind of fluoro are you using. I tried several before settling on one and wouldnt take any vanish or vicious if you gave it to me

I've used vanish, seaguar invisx and seaguar red label and all of them broke on me. Needless to say the price of flouro isn't worth it to me. I switched back to mono.

Been having good luck with the Berkley 100%, not as smooth as sunline. In sunline I like the reaction for cranking and the shooter for everything else, just cant keep respooling with that. But so far so good with the Berkley 100%! Hope this helps.
FYI , You have to check any brand periodically to check for kinks or frays. Any brand will snap on a good solid hookset with bad spots in it.

The only flouros that I have tried were Vicious and Red Label. Both have worked fine for me. I prefer the Red Label because it is smoother and it seems to be more abrasion resistant. Could your drag be set too high? I like to have mine slip slightly on a big powerful hook set. I feel that I still have plenty of power to drive the hook home with it set like that. I also retie often. If I feel any type of kink or nick, I retie immediately.

I have tried many fluro and have had a lot of break offs. However I use p line 100 % fluro and its very sensitive and Ive only ever lost 1 fish on it. With that said there was a good point in the cost of fluro and is it really worth it? I know personally ive caught thousands of fish on regular mono over the years and never lost many on break offs??

I use seaguar inviZx and love it. Ive also heard nothing but good things about the sunline, but its pricey. As others have said, if you get a good kink in your line, eapecially with the lighter stuff, it will break. A backlash will kink any line fairly easy. More times than not when i get hung with my 20lb invizx, i anchor the boat

I have used several too, really liked the invizx and red label too.they both will serve u well,I think red label is best bang for normal fisherman.i made a bad mistake about 6 weeks ago and bought some sunline sniper, and if dont wanna get hooked dont try it because it is really nice fishin line.

The only downside to most fluoro is that it gets nicked easily, especially if your dragging it up ledges, so check it frequently. I don't have much problem with it breaking (I use Seguar red label most of the time), but if you want a fluorocarbon that's built like a tank, then get the Seguar Abraz-X. You could probably hack at it with a machete and it would still be fine!
