That was me for many many years. I have been using red label since last fall and I love it. I got on here and griped about how i hated flouro and a few guys gave me some advice that worked 100%!! My problem was my knot and once I stated tying that funky Shaw Grigsby knot the Flouro has been fantastic. Prior to that I thought Flouro was a scam, waste of money and junk but not anymore. I use bass pro excel for any mono needs and still fish it but I use 15# and 17# red label for pitching soft plastics and jigs. I still like my mono for my suspending jerkbaits and topwater.
I use FireLine on my spinning reels.....I try to take the best attributes of a line to solve my problems or concerns and use them. It might take me a while to get the point but that's only because I'm stubborn and don't care for change!
    I agree it is costly!!

I've used Vicious pro for about three years and have never had a problem with it. But my eyesight isn't what it used to be so I've switched to Stren 100% floro in clear blue florescent. It really shows up well in the daylight and is great with blacklights for night fishing. But anytime your using floro you have to constantly check for nicks and retie often. The only problem is it's hard to find. I've only ben able to find it online.

Had to comment that this is one of the problems I have with Flouro as well. The smaller pound test gives me problems with seeing it clear enough to tie my Carolina rig leaders. Especially if it was raining....I have cut what I thought was the tag end on more than one occasion.

I use the Stren fluorescent blue for night fishing only because no other company (that I'm aware of) offers flurorescent fluro right now. I don't like the Stren because it seems like I can just look at it and it gets a rough spot or nick on it and I constantly have to waste a lot of line and time to retie. Wish another company (particularly Seguar) made fluorescent fluorocarbon.
