Played my first 18 rounds today at a scramble. I'm hooked! Dang hobbies are getting out of hand!!! I have taken two lessons and have 5 more coming to me in the near future. Looking forward to playing some more that's for sure.

Not for me. I don't go in for sissy sports, I am a fly fisherman! Lol
I caddied when I was a youngster and that's as close to ever playing golf that I've ever approached.
To each there own, but I think playing golf on a nice day only deprives one of some great fishing time.

After using a golf cart for 18 holes I can't imagine lugging the clubs around.... Heck with that! I want to use a cart or maybe have a golf bag on wheels.
Of course we played right next to some fine looking ponds today. Sure seems fair to me to be able to fish a little while playing!
I started playing in college...love golf...but I've never been a superstar at it or anything. I'll shoot in the 80's on a good day. Bogey Golf is about the norm for me on most courses, with the occasional days where a few things click and I do better. I used to practice a lot, but have come to just enjoy it for what it is - An excuse to drink beer, cuss, and not work. I've never been a real long ball hitter, but I generally hit them straight. I've learned that short and straight is a lot better than long and in the woods. LOL
Back when I took my 3 year hiatus from being fat, I walked 18 holes a week carrying my bag...loved it...I actually play better when I walk. I think it has something to do with pace.
Now that I'm on Team Fat & Slow again, I'm back to riding a cart. We play a lot of golf through work.
The thing is, DJD has the perfect setup where we live...The golf course is right across the road from our Fishing Club Lake. BOOYAH, Jack. Pack a 9-iron and a 7' Medium Heavy and you're set.
Man we got it good for sure!! My main problem right now is my left knee has fluid on it again so it's sore and pops like crazy. I'm making an appointment with Bluegrass Ortho on Monday. I'm tired of dealing with it and need a professional to check it out and then fix it.I started playing in college...love golf...but I've never been a superstar at it or anything. i played with it wrapped today and the cart was a life saver!! I didn't try and hit the balls hard today and my iron play was on pretty good. Still need more work....especially on driving.......we haven't really addressed that at the lessons.
I will be in touch to play some golf soon!
Amen!
DJ you can probably find a nice three wheel cart pretty cheap at a yard sale or craigslist. Start out at a fairly flat course and just start out paying to walk nine holes.
Good luck to ya man!
Going to work around the house and on the boat today and hopefully walk nine later in the afternoon. Of course I'm 28 and have no idea of your age. Wasn't Dr.Evil like a hundred years old?
A flat course would have been easier for putting yesterday thats for sure but it was cool to watch the experienced in our group read the greens and talk about how it breaks and things like that. One dogleg hole they talked about going over the trees or managing the hole and hitting on the fairway to set us up for a good second shot onto the green. Well one guy goes over the trees and it was beautiful!! only problem was it hit a smaller tree on the drop and landed in an area he couldn't play it. the managed shot was the play and all went well after that. I lost one ball in a creek but that was it and that was while using a 7 iron that I topped so it burned the ground instead of going over the creek.Amen!

Yep I really enjoy the game....I'm getting a late start in life on it and hope to have some good times ahead with friends and business associates on the courses around the world. I always knew a lot of business gets done on the golf course but it hit home yesterday while playing around people who we have contracted for and worked with at hospitals. We are headed to Palm Springs this year on business and I'm looking forward to playing some in Califorina.
My observation on golf: I found I could go out of the one of the most beautiful days of the year and be in a great mood when I walked up to the tee on the first hole and by the time I finished 18 holes if I had a bad round I would be frustrated and mad at myself and the whole world. I also learned that I could go fishing and the weather could be bad, the fish not biting, break a rod, put bird nests in my reels and break off the only good bite I had all day and come off the water feeling like I had a great time and a great day. It has been 20 years since I played my last round of golf, that last day after finishing the first 9 at Ft Campbell, I turned to my boss who was playing with me and gave him all my expensive clubs, bag, shoes, balls etc.....when to the club house, had a beer and then went fishing...haven't looked back since.
I don't play golf (maybe a couple times when I was younger) but I always get invited to play. Nobody ever invites me to go fishing!
