East Fork is just a green mess right now. Can't see more than 6in down the algee is so thick. The upper end of the lake is a little better but the lower end is horrible. It used to be a really clear lake but the last few years the algee has been terrible. I did catch any bass in the last two weeks. But the catfish were hitting jigs and plastics.

Yep the dam end is just nasty. It's a little clearer up stream. Started that way about two weeks ago and go worse.
I heard the lake is shut down due to algae and can cause health problems if ya make contact with water. The algae is caused from the chemicals the surrounding farms use that have been washed in the lake. Normally the lake has a lot of moving water and it gets washed out. A week or so ago someone drowned in the river so the shut the water flow threw the dams down until the body was found which has made the problem worse.
I haven't heard about the lake being shut down. But I know that since it hasn't rained much and the water temps in the 80's the algae has gotten worse. I was thinking of doing some night fishing tomorrow night but I may have to go to Brookville instead.
Read the article from the DNR it's just a swimming advisery. The lake isn't shut down. You can still fish and boat. Although the EPA says the toxic level is 4 times the normal.
