    Current on Ky lake

with the tva pulling so much water how is this going to effect the bite , and will the big worm and Carolina rigs take a backseat to other baits if so what might that be? Any input would be greatly appreciated

I have not been out on the lake since last Wednesday (don't do holiday weekends). The good bite ledge bite we had going thus far all summer slowed last Tuesday and Wednesday when the constant current had quit (at least in the morning to late morning hours) as the influx of water we were receiving from up the rivers had played out. Then all the heavy rain started that went through out the holiday weekend up the Cumberland and Tennessee rivers and the current started back up....as you mentioned. I did receive a few reports that the good bite had returned with this new round of water coming through. I will be back out on Kentucky Lake this week....starting today and I expect the ledge bite to be good, especially on the ledges around the mouths of the creeks and bays....and I expect a myriad of lures will be working just as they were when we previously has all this current....you might also check the current breaks around points on the main lake...these should be holding good fish too.

I was on Kentucky north Kentucky this morning for about 3 hours doing the "on the water" portion of my Ledge Teaching trip....did not see any debris,,,but this morning there had not been any significant rise in the water levels since the flood waters starting coming through.....but....the lakes are forecasted to go 2 feet over summer pool in the TVA's near term forecast by midnight Wednesday night....I would expect at least some debris with this rise in water levels. I have not had a report on Barkley yet and did not have time to zip through the canal this morning to check it out....if I get any reports before I get a chance to get over there, I will let you know here.....I certainly would expect some muddy or at least heavy stain over there in the channel coming in from up river and I certainly would expect some debris as it goes over summer pool.

I hit creek channel ledges on the main lake and also in the mouths of a couple of bays on the north end this morning on my teaching trip...fish were active....the one river channel ledge we checked out does not have enough current break to be productive with this much current. We had an active bite on 3/4 ounce football jig this morning, but from what I saw, we could have easily gotten a crankbait bite, spinnerbait or swim bait bite also..it just was not what we throw on my Ledge Teaching trip.

No doubt there will be current this weekend. We are already one foot over summer pool and still rising. I was out for a fun/teaching trip today and my client had 24lbs on best 5....I quit counting when he reached 4 limits of keepers...we were fishing creek channel ledges on the main lake and in the mouths of the bays. He got all his big fish dragging a football head jig.
