Fellas,
Looking for some pointers from my KY brothers that have fished in coastal waters...
Taking the family vacation to St. Simon island in Georgia. Anyone have any tips for catching a few fish from surf, backwater or piers??
thanks,
mess

There is a pier and baitshop "downtown" near the light house they will have a tide chart and you're temp. Ga. fishing license. You can catch Trigger fish, Pinfish, Snapper's small Sharks etc. straight down around the pier's. There are large 100#plus Sharks and Ray's caught by the locals with heavy saltwater gear. I have also caught Bull Redfish using my Striper gear with mullet for bait. For something different you can buy a trap and some chicken necks and catch some blue crabs while you're fishing.
The pier over on Jekyll Island is also good, the shrimp boats dump their by-catch near there and it attracts alot of different fish including Gators.
