I haven't gotten to the point where I catch my own bait yet but I do have a net that I'm still learning to throw. For me it is at least 2 hour prep time to get the boat ready and then a 2.5 to 3.5 hour drive just to get to the lake. By then I just want bait and to be able to go out fishing. So I buy shiners. This spring they have worked very well for me and I will troll the same one for hours but not over 0.5 mph. I'm not saying that will always work as I was even catching stripers on nearly dead shiners this spring. The aerator pump failed over night and most the bait had died. What was left was barely moving but it was all I had.

I do have a 17 gallon oval bait tank under my rear deck. Next I need to learn what water temp is best for bait, how much salt, and which additives to put in there. Any recommendations?

lol, you wont need gps coordinates.....the 298 boats that have been circled like a wagon train right there for the last 3 weeks will be a big clue

Between the GPS numbers, plus I saw you on the water Sunday, Peter we are on to you and your fishing holes!!!
Sunday was slow for me, fish were active early but slowed down quickly. A friend of mines wife landed a big one though 40" and 32-35 lb range she was a beauty haven't seen one that size in a while.
I don't have a pic of the lucky lady who landed it holding it, but here is what it looked like. Late afternoon, bright sunny skies not much action then wham out comes the big one.
Congrats Haley on your biggest striper yet.

congrats to the lady ! nice! that makes 6 over 40 inches i know of in the last couple weeks....love it!
as for the active fish slowing down...as soon as we run over em its on, but you better land what you hook, because the school is 10 miles away by the time you turn to find them again. thing is for us , today we hit them before we get all the rods put out, tommorrow it might take 2 hrs to find them, and wham, nothing left but some fish cleaning. who knows

Pretty funny and a good observation too. I cant remember that being on my screen before, but I guess it always is because I looked at a similiar photo in my profile from from a couple years ago ad it was there. . Guess I'm always looking at other parts of the screen in hopes of seeing something interesting.

That kind of blows my mind because I have spent many many hours glued to that screen...to the point where I see yellow striper trails when I go to sleep sometimes.

I had just given up trying to find a school and was putting some boards out in hopes a school would find me when I saw them. I went over them, pulled in two boards, and never could find them again. Rode around some more and saw no schools. Got lucky and caught one on the other side of the lake.

Ahhhh. Just figured it out. To take the photo I scrolled the screen left (history) to show the school and in curser mode it shows some different things like the depth curser and coordinates...which is pretty smart of lowrance if you think about it.
