Word of warning if you want to plate a out of state trailer in Indiana make sure it has numbers on the trailer - I got a great deal on a old tracker boat back in the spring but had to go to Frankfort KY to get it . Guy had 2 titles so thought I was good to go until I took it to the BMV and was informed it didnt have a trailer title or numbers on trailer so I had to have police inspection . OK called 911 and requested a trailer inspection . Officer came by house , looked at trailer , then filled out paperwork . Talked for a bit then I mailed forms to Indy . 2 weeks later paperwork returned with cover letter , cop filled out wrong form . Great . Called 911 same cop came out filed out other paperwork and I mailed that . Got same paperwork returned again today now they want a check for $11.50 . No mention of this fact in last letter . Well pray for me Im mailing paperwork with a check to get trailer numbers then get a tag engraved with those numbers and mounted on the trailer then call a cop again to fill out another paper I will mail in to finally get plates for my trailer . I bought the boat back in april and havent had it on the water yet . The cop said to just go to lake without plates but I cant do that . Makes a guy want to move to KY .

I bought a jon boat and trailer from a guy in Lexington KY. The trailer had no title and the VIN wasn't legible.
I went to BMV and got a MVIN application and in 1 week had a new vin number. Applied for title all went very well. I just took the trialer to the BMV and let them look it and help me with the paperwork.
