Great stories...if I could type faster I'd be all over this one LOL.
Few years ago fishing a tournament i take a bite on a plastic worm, reel down and set the hook and my line breaks, bad spot in my line. Before i can set down to retie my friend throws in behind me and sets the hook. A 2 1/2lb bass comes jumping out of the water and spits his bait. He reels in and sure enough he has my hook and worm hanging off of his jig. He somehow managed to get his hook between my hook and worm in the fishes mouth and pulled it out. So much for the people who say a fish wont bite again for awhile
cool story
I was cat fishing once and forgot to leave my spool open and clicker on i ended up losing the whole rod to the water. After fishing about a hour later I get a hit and start bringing in what I believe to be a nice cat but to my surprise the fish I had just caught wrapped itself up with the line from my lost rod with the other cat still hooked So I ended hauling in 2 cats and my lost rod. Talking about feeling lucky
A Smallmouth about 2 1/2 pounds or so took my shakey head on Barren earlier this year. Rascal peeled plenty of 8 lb pound line off the drag and jumped 4 times before I got it up beside the boat. Told him you're about a mean little SOB as I reached down for him. All of a sudden my bait comes out and he swims away. I looked and the hook point wasn't even pulled through the 7 inch finesse worm. Looked just like it did when I threw it out there.
