"Hurry hurry, read about climate change here, and get your free psychoanalysis!" It's two-fer Tuesday.
Actually I believe both those things. But I am not convinced as to what the level of man-made influence is.
One reason is this: the Earth warmed from 1978 to 1998. Existing computer models couldn't reproduce the warming trend using the existing variables in the models for natural forces. So, the conclusion was made by the IPCC that the warming was man-made.
But when those same models failed to anticipate the lack of warming over the past decade or so, the IPCC admitted that their models failed to account for the fluctuations in natural forces.
In other words, if it warms, we have the models right and man is the cause. If it doesn't warm, we don't have the models right.
Just not reliable enough to me.
I have a hard time believing it exists. The information has been corrupt for so many years that now when it comes out I laugh at how I am supposed to believe it this time. The fact that this was changed from Global Warming to Climate Change says everything to me. IMO.....the term Global Warming wasn't just mentioned one day during a speech....it was discussed, agreed upon and deemed to be the term to carry this information forward and save the earth...along with billions of dollars to support anyone who wants to climb aboard. Once the data was finding opposition they (supporters, scientists, beneficiaries) couldn't take the hit on their beloved ideals so they changed it to something that cannot be disputed....Climate Change. It has become so political that it has to be corrupt!!! We all know how easy it is for political figures to support something if it means money to their supporters.
Do I believe in climate change? Yes happens all the time. Four seasons....Warm days in winter cool days in the summer. Cooooold winters and warm winters....hoooot summers and not so hot summers. Droughts, floods......This has been going on for as long as I can remember. So we have had Global Warming since I was in Elementary school? Earlier than that??? Haven't we had odd winter storms or dry spells back in the 1800's, 20's, 30's etc.....wonder what caused that??? Flatulence?
Change it back to Global Warming and keep trying to prove that it's real and maybe I will start to actually accept this as fact because when they keep changing their approach, politicians getting involved and facts come out showing bogus data I cannot believe 100% of what they say.
Al Gore wouldn't lie to us would he??
Obama. The best way to tell if he is lying is if his mouth is moving.
I heard this story today on the radio and thought it was interesting.
Curry certainly has the credentials. She is a professor and chairwoman of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She also runs a side business as a private weather forecaster. But she doesn't deny the basic principles of climate change.
"If all other things remain equal, it's clear that adding more carbon dioxide to the atmosphere will warm the planet," she told the committee.
But, she went on, not all things are equal. She says there's so much uncertainty about the role of natural variation in the climate that she doesn't know what's going to happen. She says a catastrophe is possible, but warming could also turn out to be not such a big deal.
And she focuses on uncertainties and unknown unknowns far more than on the consensus of climate scientists, who say we know enough to be deeply worried.
"I've been trying to understand how there can be such a strong consensus, given these uncertainties," she told the committee.
Her message that day on Capitol Hill was, in essence, that while humans may be contributing to climate change, we simply don't know how the climate will behave in the coming decades, so there may be no point in trying to reduce emissions.
