The low water has revealed old coffins made of wooden planks. There are quite a few above the water line.
The official Corp web site states that the remains in the coffins were relocated prior to flooding what is now the lake but the coffins were left behind. It appears that they were left positioned as buried by the geometrical layout (guess). Seems like an 0dd place for a grave yard until you think about the area before the lake. The boxes were placed on the side of a hill at the end of a ridge extending out to the to the cliffs that look up the Cumberland River. The boxes are in line with the River channel. A good view.

Is that sign always there, or did they put it in after the water receded?
Sign was placed after water lowered.
This is on Cemetery Island. These are exposed every year at winter pool but more are showing now due to lower than normal conditions. The sign had to be posted because of knuckleheads last year moving stuff and actually taking bones from grave sites. I'm wierd about stuff like that, I don't even fish aroung Cemetery Island as to not possible snag stuff there as I know of some that have, Yikes.
Are you sure that's not cemetary point not island they are two different places. The point would be on the main lake on the south side between Indian and Beaver creeks. Has that one lone tree on the end.
I call this Cemetary Point..with the one tree.
Hey Peter fine job takin the time to take all those pics and post em. Thanks for your time and effort. I wished i had brought my camera after I got on the water last Saturday. Goin back Sunday but fishin a tournament so not much time for takin pics. Be busy lookin for a bite or 2. Thanx again for the great photos.
Yes you are correct Mr. Cress, I've been in a fog all week, my bad.
I think the name is Graveyard Point. At least that is what I have heard it called for the last 35 or so years.
