I am working on a new sponsor that might make a serious contribution to the site and allow us to do more if we can get their ads working right.
Please check out the Fishin.com Page above.. Let me know if the 468 X 60 banner at the top of the page works for you and also the 300 X 250 ad next to Jim Durham's Signature at the end of the Lake Cumberland Report.
These are Java Script ads and I need to know if they work on your browser.
IF You do not see the ads.. let me know what browser you have.. and version.

What are the ads supposed to look like? All I see next to his signature is a small photo of someone that I assume to be Jim Durham. I see the same picture near the top underneath the grey bar. The link below is a screen capture of what I see.

I'm using Firefox 2.0 with the AdBlock Plus plug-in.

EDIT: I just viewed it in IE7 and I now see the ad for signature rods and the chevy truck ad.

OK why would you want to have an Ad Blocker on a Browser.. to me that is infringement on my right to post what I feel is important on MY WEBSITE.. and should not be legal.. but that is just me..
I understand why, but part of the net being FREE is Ads being seen. IF They are blocked I will have to start charging for use of my site.. (Not fishin.com of course.. but there goes the revenue..)

It doesn't block ALL ads, just certain types. There are some types of ads that the Firefox pop-up blocker doesn't block on it's own (like those float over ads you get at the Kentucky.com site) and this Firefox plug-in blocks them.

Look at it this way, those ads slow down my browser and since I'm paying for internet access, I should start charging the advertisers!

I'm using Firefox 2.0, and if I turn off AdBlock, I see the ads. Turn it back on, and they disappear. It's a beautiful thing!

The web is NOT free, and never was. I pay for access, don't you? Shouldn't I have the right to determine what code I download onto MY computer? Is it illegal to record a tv show and zip through the commercials?

Legality aside (kind of silly to be talking about this anyway, just do what the man asked and help him out.....) Im running Mac Safari 2.0.4 and both the ads show up fine

Jim, here's my take on it.

I do believe you have the right to post whatever you want. I believe also, though, that I have the right to take advantage of any technology that allows me to customize my Internet experience as I choose, as long as it is done on my end and not yours.

The battle is as old as marketing itself. Advertisers want to get in your face, sometimes consumers want to be left alone. And the Internet is the ultimate democratic society - the best technology wins. There are plenty of ads that get through AdBlock. Flash ads, in particular.

In Firefox 1.5, I see the truck ad at the bottom but not the one at the top. I'm not running adblock on this box.

I'm also using Firefox 1.5 with popup blocker on...I see a pink box up towards the top of the screen, nothing beside Jim's name. But I do see the Chevy Truck ad at teh bottom of the page. Good Luck

OK to be fair, I've turned off AdBlock and browsed around fishin.com, and the advertising isn't excessive or overly intrusive. Good job, guys! If all web sites were that way, I might not have bothered with AdBlock in the first place. But there is just so **** much advertising out there that overall I find it makes the web surfing experience more enjoyable. 'Nuff said.
