Immigration, higher birth rates among minorities to speed up diversity

WASHINGTON - White people will no longer make up a majority of Americans by 2042, according to new government projections. That's eight years sooner than previous estimates, made in 2004.

The nation has been growing more diverse for decades, but the process has sped up through immigration and higher birth rates among minority residents, especially Hispanics.

It is also growing older.
"The white population is older and very much centered around the aging baby boomers who are well past their high fertility years," said William Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank. "The future of America is epitomized by the young people today. They are basically the melting pot we are going to see in the future."

The Census Bureau Thursday released population projections through 2050, based on rates for births, deaths and immigration. They are subject to big revisions, depending on immigration policy, cultural changes and natural or manmade disasters.

The U.S. has nearly 305 million people today. The population is projected to hit 400 million in 2039 and 439 million in 2050.

That's like adding all the people from France and Britain, said Steve A. Camarota, director of research at the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington group that advocates tighter immigration policies.

White non-Hispanics make up about two-thirds of the population, but only 55 percent of those younger than 5.

By 2050, whites will make up 46 percent of the population and blacks will make up 15 percent, a relatively small increase from today. Hispanics, who make up about 15 percent of the population today, will account for 30 percent in 2050, according to the new projections.

Asians, which make up about 5 percent of the population, are projected to increase to 9 percent by 2050.

The population 85 and older is projected to more than triple by 2050, to 19 million.

Yep heard the same thing. Responding to this makes one look racial but what the heck!
The majority of the working class americans actually think about how many kids they can support. Yeah little surprises happen but they adjust their income to raise the child now on the other hand if we are allowing Illegal Immigrants and Welfare women to have kids at little no cost to them (and at times getting more gubment money) it's no wonder they will multiply at a faster pace. The system is warped.

I don't see an issue with it. Heck, I think we're closer to it than that already. I mean, who can even objectively define what black or white is anymore? I haven't seen a quantifiable definition yet.

With all the inter-racial children that are being born now, in the past years, and definately in the future, what race will these children fall under? Will it be a given race known as inter racial? Parental choice? Or will sub catagories be given to account for these people?
As far as minorities go! I'm pretty sure the average white American male went to the top of the list in the late sixties to early seventies. No one ever took the time to take a poll of our rights or lack there of versus everyone else.

(And as usual, this is my opinion and offence to any race, color or creed was not intended.)

Not one mention of another fact, white males are already a monority!If a well qualified female with great credentials would run , we'd probably change the way government is run. Unfortunatly, females while not major wage earners, control and manage most of the house holds in this country. They know what budgets are[wish i could meet another one them].

My wife and I would love to have several kids but it looks like we are only going to try for 2. Because of the money factor. If it were free than we would have a house full. With that said, I must run; I need to get some cold Corona for my wife so I have a shot at trying for #2 this weekend. Ryan.

I think it's pretty easy just consider the following...Skin color (big givaway), race of your parents (especially your mom) because if a woman is having a baby and the father isn't around then the race is decided by the mother.

Right or wrong that's how I do it. I'm sure you could make it difficult but as a rule it's very easy. *grin*

Ryan, here's how to have more. Just Quit your jobs, and then go see one of my co workers. Also change your names to JESUS and Maria, drop your ss numbers dis learn the lang or you have the option to just become regular trash and then you can have all the children you want, we will pay for them. Make sure that you do not bathe for a few days to get the whole effect. This post not to be taken seriously only intended for sarcasmic purpose only.

Thats cause there is no definition of race. Skin color, hair type, and other things usually used to define "race" are extremely variable. Simply put, there is no biological component to "race". We're all human, the rest is meaningless.
