I just thought i would throw out a question to everyone. I just recently moved into a home on Stoner Creek in Paris, I can cast a line in the water from my porch, have no close neighbors, 3 acres, my own dock and ramp. I have to say i love being that close to one of my favorite fishing holes, although i have been tortured lately with no rain and the creek being a mess. I tell you i feel pretty lucky and i was just wondering if any of you have homes on the water or plans for it someday? It definately puts you in a different state of mind coming home from a long day at work!

True, with the water level so low and all of the duckweed and moss. the fishing can be difficult to say the least. However, the bass are still there and can still be caught. I've been up Stoner 8 or 9 times in the past month or two, and have had some decent success. I've been concentrating on the duckweed clusters that gather around the hydrilla about 8-10 feet off the bank. Tossing a spinnerbait (3/8 oz double willow, with a firetiger skirt) right up to the outer edge of the duckweed (closest to the middle of the creek), has proven successful everytime. Several keepers, and a nice 4, and 5 pounder have been the fruits of this technique. Just let the bait sink for 2 or 3 seconds, then slow roll it ALL the way to the boat, not just most of the way, as alot of the strikes have come from right under the boat. I've also had some luck just throwing a topwater frog right on top of the duckweed around cover and fishing it kinda fast, with alot of eratic twitches during the pauses.
might be worth a shot your next time out. :-)
how low is the water as compared to a few weeks ago? was thinking about heading down there tomorrow, but it depends on water depth....

This is a good time to scout the honey holes, you'll be surprised at what you don't see at normal pool.

I love you man....
F-n-F season is a coming,
Should it rain enough we should put together another Frymans classic.

I sit by my little fish pond in the back yard and dream of casting off my own dock.
I've never lived near the water, I make do with getting my little fixes for the water whenever I can, once a month, a couple of times a month, whatever. I guess for me it doesn't matter if I live smack dab in front of the water or not, sure it would be nice but it usually comes with a price...I would like to live within 1 hour of the nearest ramps to Cumberland or Dale or both.
Living on a nice stream like you do sounds like a nice slice of heaven for sure. The perfect scenario for me would be anywhere from two or three acres or more, just as long as I have less than a 1/2 acre of grass to cut![]()
i don't live by the water am within 10 min. of a lake but also have a piece of land that i have built a small cabin on and have about 6-7 acres of water on it so can sit on porch and look out on the water don't get there nearly as often now as i like since it is 2 hrs. away but enjoy my time while there it doesn't have the biggest bass in it but for the most part can catch them all day
I would just like it when the wife retires and we buy a House boat on Nolin and just live there year round...Got water to go out on all the time then......Now that would be my heaven until I actually get to heaven and then be around water 24/7.....![]()
we have talked about buying a place on the water to live in not visit. I would want it on barren or nolin since my wife still works. However with the price of lake front property I might settle for a used house boat and not move in to it full time. no grass to mow hehe
