Getting to the upper at McAlpine.

    How?

Im looking at a boat as I type this, they are up past the interpretive center about 300yds back behind the dam. Can a person safely direct me up there or is it one of those situations where you need to be shown?

i was shown by a friend who has been doing it for a long time and that is the best advice i can give you but if you stay in the channel and use your depth/fish finder you might be ok. its tricky with next to no flow coming out of the upper dam but it can be done. be very careful there are alot of prop busters with the low water. hopefully the sauger will pick up or it might not until we get the dam opened a few more feet. good luck and be careful.

I am familiar with the chanel from where that discharge pipe is down river from the center on up to close to the dam from years of wade fishing and jelously watching boats go by. However, Im not familiar with the area coming from the lower to the upper.

To save you a lot of hassle and potentially a lot of money in boat repairs, let someone show you. As the water comes up and fishing gets better, there will be boats going up there almost everyday ask someone at the ramp if you can follow them up and back. Getting there is only half of it, you still need to get out.

I too work for the SAME company...........used to spend Many days looking from 21.........

I even used to sneak out at lunch, hit the river for a couple, drive through mickie D's and head back to work. I belong to the fitness center, and would go down and change into some sweats or jeans, or whatever, and then change back once I got back to work......

So what area are you in...........I'm in TECH at the Clock Tower.

    Later,

    George White..........

BTW......you can find me in the directory with that name.......ONLY one there..........shoot me an email or give me a ring sometime.

OH, and I can probably help you get up there, but I use a MUCH better method now.........I take a canoe..........

If the water is not ROLLING too bad, a canoe will get you to EVERY area, and then some........AND you can get up in the DUCK POND when boats cannot........BONUS.

    Later,

    Geo

We had two blues, I of course caught the little one at around 12 or so pound and Chuck had one tip the scales at 50lb and 7oz weighed it myself. It was a Bohemeth and a beautiful fish too. Fishing overall was a bit slow Friday, not alot of bites.
