How many times do you have to be screwed before it finally sinks in that this isn't gonna stop anytime soon?

Obama has one heck of a hole to dig this country out of and with the support of those who elected him we'll get the job done. Re: Hard to Make this stuff up...........

    1. We already have a civilian National Security Force...it's called the FBI, ATF and Fed Marshalls.

    2. U.S. military personnel are prohibited from using force against U.S. citizens by Title 18 USC Sec 1385 (posse comitodus). This is why we have state militia's (National Guard) so that a trained military organization is available in the event a state needs this type organization to use force against U.S. citizens. The authority to use National Guard troops in events that call for use of force against U.S. citizens rests with each individual governor. The President does have the power to federalize the National Guard, but once this happens, they cannot be used as a force against U.S. citizens.

Example: My last 14 years on active duty was with the Ky ARNG. My active duty orders were federal, thus whenever there was a riot, looting etc event that called for National Guard troops to provide security etc....I was not allowed to be physically involved in the operations because I was for all purposes on active duty orders with the U.S. Army. I could direct operations (which was one of my jobs) but I could not be physically involved on the scene.

Now, if a civilian National Security Force as mentioned being equipped, trained and armed at the level of the U.S. military were formed...there would be no possible reason for this other than to get around the law that prohibits U.S. federal troops to engage with U. S. citizens.

In my opinion, any force such as this would be a direct threat to the rights of all U.S. citizens to be protected from the Executive Branch (President) being able to apply military rule over them without a change to the U.S. laws that protect us from such an act.

As far as I am concerned...it is of my opinion that we have totally over reacted to the terrorist threat to the point we have already lost some of our freedom in the name of homeland security. There has to be a balance somewhere, where we as a free society will be at some risk if we are to remain a free society. Somewhere along the line, we as a nation, will have to change our views of how we are going to deal with nations that sponsor and harbor terrorists. Our biggest mistake in Iraq was not going there and destroying their country...our mistake was staying there. Leaving the country in shambles would have sent a message to other folks sponsoring and harboring terrorists that you will go down hard if you mess with the U.S. I could care less about the "innocent" civilians there....if they wanted freedom from oppression they had 20 million people that could have risen up as our fore fathers did and pay the price to gain it.

If forming a quasi military CIVILIAN force to strip me and my fellow americans of more of our freedoms is PROGRESS...then it is PROGRESS in the wrong direction for a democracy. And if you or anyone else is driving a truck trying to run over me and my right to LIFE, LIBERTY and the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS (as long as I am not infringing on someone else's right's) in what you call the name of PROGRESS, be prepared to meet your maker...I will take you out in a heartbeat.

Well said Dave. The entire civilian security force is concerning to me. The first thing that comes to mind is this will be the people who will be used to confiscate guns. I guess I will be standing there with my evil "black" rifle.

I can GUARANTEE you there are a TON of Obama fans who voted for him simply because he's BLACK........

Now, I doubt there are hardly ANY that voted for McCain, because he is WHITE.....

You suppose those are LEGITIMATE, thoughtful votes......I doubt it.

    Later,

    Geo

I don't buy that for a second. Here in rural Western Ky, racism is not even close to being extinct. I heard it daily leading up to the election - "there is no way I can vote for a ......." so they pulled the lever for McCain. I just bite my tongue and go on. Some people are just ignorant and stuck in the past. So to think racism against blacks is a thing of the past is wrong - ignoring and denying the problem doesn't make it go away. I am sure plenty of whites threw their vote McCains way based on race.

Something like 55% of whites voted for McCain
Something like 96% of blacks voted for Obama...

    Racisim?
What if it was the other way around? Racisim?

Also Id like to add, how many times did we hear before th election "XX% of whites said race was/was not a factor in their choice for president..." but we NEVER heard, "XX% of blacks said race was/was not a factor in their choice for president..."???

I wont say that some whites voted for McCain only because Obama is black. I infact know that happened and I think its sick. But my point is, lets not forget that white people are not the only people that view others by the color of their skin. I actually think the stats show that because Mccain only got a little more then half of white votes that for the most part whites do not judge, at least a president, by the color of their skin.

If an African American ran for president every election and the numbers were the same - yes.

Considering this is the first time in our history that an African American was on the presidential ballot, I am not surprised, or disapointed that he recieved the majority of black votes. I voted for him, and there was a part of me that was proud of the progress out country has made in terms of racial awareness and equality. Whites took over this country and have historically had all of the advantages. Blacks in our country have had to fight for everything. Segregation still legally existed until about 50 years ago. I can't imagine how some African Americans felt that lived through those oppressive times, that for the first time had the opportunity to vote for another African American.

I do think race played some role in this election, however, I don't think it is all negative. I don't think they were voting against McCain becuase he was white.

McCain revieved the majority of votes of people of 65 - did they discriminate based on age? I am sure many of them did because they felt they relate to him better.
