I have heard a lot of good things about Powell's glass series CB rods--I think they are pretty affordable too.
I don't know if you were looking for one rod to do both or not, but I would recomend two rods for that. I do know I would not look at anything under 7 feet for either of those. The longer the better. I use a 7'3 for deep crankbaits, and a 7'6 for carolina rig.
For the deep crankin rod you will want a rod that has some backbone (mid rod through the butt) but you also want one that has a slow or soft tip. Alot of people prefer fiberglass rod for crankbaits because they have a very slow tip. You will want the rod to be long for long casts. You can spend as much as you want, but the BPS crankin stick is cheap and good. Or you can look for something like the fenwick crankshaft (my favorite) which is half graphite - mid through the butt (saves weight and adds strength) and is glass from mid to tip to give it the softness. I would look at a lower ration reel for deep crankin too.
For C-Rig I like a Medheavy with a fast or extra fast tip. The fast tip allows for better hooksets. I like a sensitive rod for this. I like my c-rig rod extra long, it helps with casts with a leader, and it helps on the long swing to the side hookset. I tried several rods, before I got a carrot stick for this. It is the best rod I have found. Not too expensive (you can find them for as low as $120 if you search hard enough). It is light, sensitive, and has a great flex through the rod that has helped fish stay on. You can get by with any reel you can cast a mile on these. The reel is more for taking up slack than actually retrieving.
2nds on the BPS crankin stick. They're affordable and if you don't end up doing alot of cranking you don't have a $150-200 rod sitting around. I have one that has handled plenty of 3-5lb largemouth and smallies.
Ya i also have a bps crankin stick and love it. 7 ft med is what you want. The c-rig rod i use a 7 ft mh rod, and you'll want a soft tip in that as well, because when you cast the c-rig it's like a freaking whip. I snapped a rod in half last year on a fish at ken lake c-rigging and i put my c-rig on my flipping pole 7ft heavy. Ouch so stiff could hardly cast it, horrible. Thats why u need that soft flexable tip.
Agreed on BPS exteme and crankin rods...........
I love mine,so does my wife.
