30 counties to bail out the rest!

    This alcohol tax is BS.

30 counties, one-fourth, 25%, etc are now responsible for making up the tax deficit for the entire state. KY alcohol is taxed 60% higher than the national average...a good way to treat your biggest product.

I think if this tax is going to truly help it should be mandatory for EVERY COUNTY in Kentucky to allow alcohol sales 24 hours a day seven days a week.

I totally and completely agree, Tim.

Higher taxes from a Democrat Governor are a certainty, and of course sin taxes are every politician's go to lure when they want to increase their bag limit.

Higher taxes - That's just the way its going to be! I didn't personally vote him in; but as a whole we did it. We could not convince our neighbors this was how it was going to be. They had that bad Fletcher taste in their mouth and voted the way they did. Pretty much the same way the Presidential election went.

I live in a dry county. My feeling is, If the county is dry it should not share in any revenue generated by alcohol sales. If they want to share in the revenue go wet.

Not worth it, but that's my two cents

That is my feelings as well BB1. I am not in favor of raising taxes, but I think if the money is going to be used state wide, then every county should have to sell it.

I dip so it will affect me. No drinking though. You had better watch out about asking for a sales tax increase. That will be next. Now if it was a fair tax it would tickle me to death. Let them do away with income tax since to be fair to the beer and cig tax every one who buys anyhting would be effected.

Got to agree with bubba, if your county is dry[mine is], then they should make up for it in some other way.Since a lot of folks can just afford to pay their property tax, and personal property tax, those things would hurt thjem severly. Hey the ministers are against sin, but they benefit from sin taxes, so TAX THE CHURCHES!.Cigarettes, tax them again, and I'll roll my own, and buy thwe tobacco from north carolina. This liquor thing is just plain stupid, cumberland and clintoncounties are both dry,and they rank high in DUI arrests, why?Watching the house boat crowd unlaod cases of booze on dale ans cumberland, buy if they made it manditory that those lakes remain dry, the pols would scream bloody murder.Excuse the poor spelling, my indiana beer is effecting my sight, plus the cigarette smoke makes it hard to see,

I feel the same as everyone. Only those that smoke or drink are going to help bail out the state. Alcohol already has a 50% tax on each bottle when purchased, now they are going to add an additional 6% which in a way is a tax on tax (6% on 50% of cost). I know some of you may not agree BUT to make it fair for everyone to pay their fair share, they should raise the sales tax another 1% and not penalize just those that drink or smoke. Just remember this incident when it comes to election time again for your legislator/governor.

So prevaling wages are ruining the country? Uh thats why we have millions of illegal "farm workers"ask any union roofer what he thinks of the right to work laws.No Pedro dosn't need union wages, his employer dosn't pay any medical benefits, and when Pedro gets sick, WE pay for all his medical care, providefor his illegal kids education. This low wage thing led to the influx of the migration to this country, and if Pedro complains, immigration is called, we pay to ship him back, and another scab contractor hires him three months later. How many illegals worked for peanuts, uh peanut corporation of america?

I don't think Prevailing Wage is the main problem in this country. I think it has had a major impact in KY and in a negative way. Schools cost more to build, workers jump from job to job just to get that high pay and the schools are being built worse than before. These schools go over budget when trying to be bid and then they eat up so much money in labor when being built. Some workers could care less if the project is finished on time and why should they? They get paid more by staying on the clock.

They (Patton) have rewarded the Unions with an opportunity to be competitive on bidding these projects. You see instead of making them compete with a realistic view of what it takes to do the Electrical Trade (for example) they make everyone else pay their people more and that costs the state more money that is better served elsewhere. The Unions are terrible and have no place dictating how the state of KY performs it's bidding process. Corruption at it's finest.
