    Ricky P. Leaving L-ville?

    Gotcha!
No actually, I was wondering after hearing a few people talking about his accomplishments at L-ville (especially if they win it all). What's next for him? Coming back to UK? Why not? Billy G. is probably gone back to the state of Texas at the end of this year and Rick could save another program. We all know the man is good and his ego would be stroked big time if he came back and pulled the program together again. Anyone think it's possible?

After the way the UK faithful has treated Ricky P he would never coach there again, besides that ship has sailed. He gets payed just as good here with less than half the pressure from arm chair quarterbacks. Travis Ford will replace Mr Footinmouth.

It's funny you bring this topic up today. I was listening to ESPN Radio this morning and they interviewed the coach for Arizona who is filling in for the coach that retired earlier this year. After the interview was done the host of the show made a reference that this will be this guys last game in Arizona and don't be surprised if the guy he is coaching against Friday,Pitino, is rebuilding the program in Arizona next fall. You just don't bring something like that up unless they had heard something in the wind. He has done it to several other colleges before so nothing would surprise me. He'll be nice in cool in that white suit in Arizona. Louisville does not need him anymore. Construction has already begun on the new arena.

This Arizona rumor has been going around for about 6 months. This is old news boys, keep dreaming, lol.

Besides why would he want to take a step DOWN in programs, I personally have never considered Arizona as an equal team to that of a Louisville, Kentucky, Kansas, or the likes.

We were being told that Texas Tech will be Billy G.'s next coaching job and that Pitino was coming here to retire. Just the latest gossip. (Mark you have an email.)

    Re: Ricky P. Leaving L-ville?

Remember when Kirk Herbstreit broke news that Les Miles was leaving LSU for the Michigan head football job? Never happened or even came close. So off base they just swept it under the rug and it got little mention. Just because someone in sports broadcasting mentions it doesn't make it true - they need stuff to talk about.

Shoot I got a text today saying the MSG Mills had interviewed for the Louisville men's basketball coaching job today. Who could be more qualified than him? Guess Pitino wants to be some sort of wildcat after all.

1.) He is not going to uproot his family at this stage in his life. He has moved his family (extended family) here and has even spent his own money to help build a dorm named after his late brother-in-law.

2.) Arizona cannot afford more than U of L. In the last two years Louisville has been THE MOST PROFITABLE BASKETBALL PROGRAM IN AMERICA PERIOD.

3.) What does Arizona have to offer that Louisville doesn't? Better tradition? NOPE! Better facilities? NOPE Better place to live? NOPE. Close to his roots? NOPE!

4.) Horse racing that he is involved in? NOPE!

5.) Top 10 recruiting classes three years in a row? NOPE!

This rumor started on the AZ fan board. They are the same rumors that started on the IU boards and the UK boards.

Nice try, thanks for playing RIBLUEFISH!

You cannot trust Pitino when it comes to what he says about staying. He said he would not leave UK and he did. It broke alot of hearts around here. LOL! There were all kinds of reasons he would stay but there were MILLIONS of reasons he decided to go.
I guess I see a man who is one of the best in his field and at some point he will have nothing left to prove and at that point his ego will tug at him to go and build his legacy again. What better way to do it than come to UK and create an interstate rivalry that will never be surpassed. JMO (ps I'm not a huge Pitino fan nor a hater just see him for what he is.....a business man)

i dont think an arena is going to keep rick anywhere. now if he was handed the money that it is costing the university or whoever is footing the bill then i would bet he would ask to be burried under freedom hall. its all about the money with mr.pitino. if the cards ever win the championship under ricks direction and he says something about not leaving a few years later start to worry. anybody notice that tubby and billy d also said they werent leaving and did? i know donovan came back but my point is not only did rick teach them how to coach, he also taught them how not to tell the truth. at least billy g tells it like it is, although he should maybe not do it so much. all of the above was my opinion and not a reflection of this board, its members and other wildcat fans, because i could be wrong and im sure i will be corrected by someone although i did state it was an opinion.

Tubby didn't quit he was run out of town on a rusty rail. Tubby had no intention of ever leaving Ky but just wasn't good enough for the fanbase with their crazy expectations. Tubby was fired he did not leave on his own accord.

i dont think tubby was fired. if he was why was it such a surprise to everyone when he was at the airport leaving for the gophers? i think maybe the meeting with the athletic director didnt go to well and is why he may have quit. i just dont remember him being fired. if he was then maybe the A.D. should have gone with him for not having a back-up plan in place. like i said before i could be wrong and im going to look back to see if tubby was in fact let go. and for the record i was not a tubby basher.
