Ky Lake - Shellcrackers - any reports?

    Hey guys,

Been hearing lots of good reports on the shellcrackers. I'm headed to KY Lake on Saturday for some shellcracker fun, since the Elites will probably be all over the areas I like to bass fish.

Just wondering if the shellcracker bite is fading, or if it's done by now. I've been wanting to fill the freezer but haven't been able to get out there until this weekend....

Will more than likely be coming out of Kenlake.

Any help or direction is appreciated!

We tried last Thursday to find some crackers or gills and it sure seemed to us like the bite was dying down. We had been down a few weeks prior and wore them out.

The bit is pretty much done as far as spawners go. However, you can catch post-spawn fish that are moving out. Here's a post from another website on the subject:

"Drop shot rig using the black Gill Cracker spider bugs on a 1/32 oz black jig head and tip with a wax worm. We are catching our best fish in 4-10 feet of water. This is for gills with an occasional redear. I can't find a concentration of redears this year. I do know I have never seen the pressure put on them like there is this year. I guess I have the internet to thank for that. "
