Thanks for the rational answers, Pontooner. I'm glad you're taking the time to educate those few of us out here who have an open mind.

When I read that somebody HATES democrats, or really HATES anybody with a different belief system (i.e., religion) or a different perspective, it make me sad. And more than a little scared for the future of our country. The radical muslims use their hate to justify terrorism. There are plenty in this country that are using hate speech to incite violence at this very moment. Is this what America has become, too?

Diversity of belief, culture, religion, ethnicity, etc. is one of the great things about our country, and is a tremendous source of strength with regards to innovation and adaption to the certainty of radical change we are facing as a country and as a planet. We are living in a different world than we were just 10 years ago... people oughta to wake up and let go of the narrow thinking and hate speech. We are in this together.

Do you EVEN know what a h1-b visa is..........I BET NOT.........ALL H1-b visas are being filled by HIGH tech, or PROFESSIONAL jobs. They cost a LOT, and require a pretty significant paycheck to make them worth it.

SHOW me 1 company that uses h1-b visas that are NOT high tech, professional, or health care, and I will TAKE it back.........

So they are very technical jobs that these visas are being used for but what I found was that most compaines hired them because they were very highly skilled and not that they could pay them less because they are required by law to pay the prevailing wage in the labor market, or the employer's actual average wage (whichever is higher) and the law provides stiff penalties for abusers.

Have you EVER worked with ANYONE on a H1-B visa..............for Every 1 that is good, 2 are NOT good.........Add then there are a WHOLE lot of other issues, including language barriers, and the H1-B visa program costs EVERYONE money. NOT a good idea...........

Medical careers are fine,but not everyone wants to be or is cut out for it.When everyone has to go into the healthcare profession to survive then those jobs will be at risk too.
You have Millions of Americans unemployed and they are allowing foreigners to come in and take jobs away from people who need and want them.

With the advances in technology, transportation, education, etc., we have to face the fact we live in a global economy and right now most of the rest of the globe (other than Europe) is willing to do a lot more work for less money.

Things are way out of balance - Costs of doing business in the USA are disproportionately high - and our government is not going to be the one to stop the loss of jobs (the government is worthless anyway).

Americans need to re-find their work ethic and focus on ways they can be necessary and relevant and economical in a global economy.

Normally I wouldn't wish Ill will on anyone,but I truly hope that everyone that thinks it's okay to employ the rest of the world and betray their fellow countrymen have to face what I've been through the past two years,I'll bet their tune would change in a hurry.
I'll work alongside anybody and bet I can work any friggin foreigner in the ground,haven't found a Mexican yet that can outwork me,and here I sit begging to take care of my family while some think we should employ India and 3rd world crapholes that could care less about Americans or would cut our throat in a minute.

The Courier-Journal as a whole aint big enough to line a bird cage and yes I am serious. Truck drivers, NAs, and RNs are endless. Two of the three require some training and with education the 3rd is endless!

I saw a VERY interesting story on the news about a meat packing plant out in Iowa or somewhere like that.........so I did some research..........

Well, they were raided 3 times in 4 months, rounding up something like 250 ILLEGAL mexican workers.

The owner told the newspaper that they'd have to go out of business, due to the lack of labor, and additional labor costs.

In today's economy people ARE willing to work, and putting AMERICANS to work is good for AMERICANS.

I'm just saying.......there are jobs that AMERICANS are willing to do.

You might be surprised about the willingness of Americans to take jobs. I was recently at a little fishing get-together outside of Kalamazoo, MI and one of the guys there owns a greenhouse operation. Pretty big business in that area of the country. He offers $14.50/hr with benefits working 9 months out of 12. Nobody wants to work for that. Guess what the majority of his workers are?

People that think they are just going to waltz right into a $30/hr job right out of high school with no further education, well you'll be looking for a while. Even with a college education it's no guarantee.
